9/21/11: THE WORLD MUST SIT BACK AND WATCH TODAY AS AMERICA ADMINISTERS ITS PECULIAR FORM OF JUSTICE.

Today is the day on which Mr. Troy Davis will be unjustly executed by the State of Georgia, for a crime in which he claims his innocence. He was convicted August 18, 1989 for the alleged murder of a Savannah, Georgia police officer, Mark MacPhail. Davis was later sentenced to death in 1991. Interesting enough, seven out of the nine eye witnesses who testified at Davis’ 1989 trial, have since recanted their testimonies’, clearly indicating against Davis’ alleged involvement in the murder of officer MacPhail. Throughout various attempts to appeal his sentence of death, Davis’ plea to the justice system had fallen on deaf ears. However his cries and agony had reached the general public. His story has become one of international appearance. Furthermore, rights advocacy groups such as the NAACP and Amnesty International have also become involved in ameliorating Davis from the harsh grips of the American Criminal Injustice System, notwithstanding the “failure” of their grand work, the general public and advocacy groups continue to be intimately involved within Davis’ case.

However, what most do not seem to understand, is that this day marks yet another day within the great American tragedy. A tragedy that is not new to those who have been long victims of the American Criminal Injustice System—Black Americans! Today the millions of post-antebellum Blacks around America and the millions more throughout the world, will have to experience a sight and feeling that is all too familiar to their forbearers, the witnessing of the system decapitating one of their own. The institution of slavery, which once existed in a de jure manner, and continues to exist today, but only in a de facto manner, readily gave whites the instant right to mistreat Blacks without having to fear retribution on the behalf of the justice system. As a result of slavery, a peculiar form of social norms and control had developed which would later grow and even advance into contemporary times. Feagin (2010) calls this the White Racial Framing, which is the maintaining of white control within a developed or developing Eurocentric society. In such a society white can do no wrong, since everything is modeled after whites, in pursuit of maintaining control and dominance on every level in society. When one attempts to connect the tragedy of Davis to the tragedy of lynching that wrecked the nation years ago, one cannot help but to notice a correlation—the outright disrespect of the Black body, the condemnation of Blackness, and thus the utter complete failure of America to protect and embrace all of her citizens equally. Only one thing is clear in this situation and that is its subtext, “Black life doesn’t count”. This is clearly the governing ideology that is the cause of the ways in which the Criminal Injustice System administers justice (e.g., disparities in incarceration/death penalty; police brutality and murders of Black men; and also reentry). Tonry (2010), in his book titled, Punishing Race, attempts to recollect historical and contemporary trends of incarceration rates to showcase how blatant racism is present within the criminal justice system. Racism within the Criminal Injustice System can be found in the ways in which law enforcement facilities its operations (targeting); within policy; and within the court, all of which are evidenced by the rates of incarceration which clearly paints a vivid picture of racial disparity, which seems all too familiar when reflecting back to the great American tragedy. Alexander (2009) asserted that there are more Black men in prison now than were enslaved back in 1850. Therefore, what we have is the return of the slavery, just under a new paradigm, and Feagin (2010) would have us to remember that white supremacy always has a way of adapting and progressing to the changes of time if society is not clear at identifying and stopping it.

I only hope that today will mark a new day in America where folk of all colors and backgrounds will call order to the American Criminal Injustice System. Our justice system as it currently exists is one of an archaic nature, which can only be found and used in an uncivilized society. To continue using the current system would be nothing more than implicating this nation as inferior when it comes to administering justice equally and humanely. The usage of the death penalty alone is a grave offense against humanity. Who and what gives someone the right to take another’s life, even in instances where justice must be served; I ask again who gives the state the right to commence death onto anyone? To my international friends, this is a snapshot of the American of justice, which is a representation of our argon culture. It is a culture of archaic illustration, a culture drowned in misery and insanity. America has a culture that claims to be pro life while simultaneously being anti life. Parenti (2004) spoke of a certain type of arrogance held by some Americans. He attempted to describe a form of ethnocentrism inhabited by Americans that most of the world follow and believe; most notably that America is the land of the free and the beacon of equality. With that, I give my international friends one good piece of advice today, dare not be blinded by American arrogance any longer. Look at this nation critically from here on out and notice how history has a way of repeating itself. Notice that freedom, equality, and equal protection did not come forthrightly with MLK and the host of others who fought for it. Recognize that America is still a nation of psychopathic tendencies, a nation in deep trouble, unable to form a conscience, a nation where race still matters. My condolences go out to the Davis’. The Harsh Truth About Mesothelioma

Mesothelioma is a rare form of cancer that affects the mesothelium, a membrane lining that surrounds the internal organs. It is known to be caused by exposure and inhalation of asbestos particles or fibers. Even though the National Cancer Institute classified mesothelioma as a “relatively rare” form of cancer with about 2,000 cases diagnosed a year, the number of patients infected with mesothelioma has climbed steadily in the past 20 years.

There are four locations of the body that the cancerous cells can potentially infect, which are the pleura, the pertorium, the pericardium and tunica vaginalis testis or tunica serosa uteri. Pleura affects the lining around the lungs and chest walls, the peritorium affects the lining around the abdominal cavity, the pericardium affects the lining surrounding the heart and the tunica vaginalis affects the reproductive organ of male patients while the tunica serosa uteri affects the reproductive organ of female patients.

The cancer grows in between the two layers of membrane lining that surrounds the specific organs and can spread to surrounding tissues and cells if it is not diagnosed earlier.

Symptoms
The mesothelioma symptoms can vary depending on the location of the affected area; and they tend to have a rather latent effect where visible symptoms only appear between 30 to 50 years after the patient’s exposure to asbestos.

Pleura mesothelioma can cause shortness of breath, pain around the chest wall, fatigue, wheezing, coughing and hoarseness around the throat. Sometimes, blood can be found in the fluid that is coughed up. Patients who suffer from severe pleura mesothelioma may develop tumor or swelling and their lungs may collapse causing acute shortness of breath and chest pain.

Peritoneal mesothelioma, which affects the abdominal cavity, can cause weight loss, abdominal pain, bowel obstruction, swelling caused by fluid buildup in the abdomen, fatigue and fever. If the cancer has spread to other areas of the body, the patient may experience trouble swallowing, pain and swelling of the face and neck.

Patients who suffer from severe mesothelioma may develop abnormal blood clots in the vein or in the arteries of the lungs, serious bleeding in several body organs, jaundice or the yellowing of the eyes and skin, low blood sugar level and severe ascites, which is the accumulation of fluid in the abdomen that causes abdominal heaviness and shortness of breath.

Diagnosis
Mesothelioma is normally hard to detect as symptoms are similar to other ailment causes. However, patients who have been exposed to asbestos some time in their lives and experience the above symptoms should seek medical consultation immediately.

The presence of Mesothelioma can be detected with imaging tests such as chest x-ray, CT scan, PET scan and MRI scan. Chest x-ray is used to detect growth around the heart, lungs and chest while the CT scan and MRI scan provide a detailed imaging of the body. The scan tests serve to detect for any abnormal growth and if there is, to identify the affected area. PET scan is often conducted to detect the presence of cancer cells through glucose deposits; it can also identify structural changes in tissues or organs caused by the cancer.

If the scan results are found to be positive for cancer, the doctor would proceed to perform biopsy tests such as fine needle aspiration, thoracoscopy, bronchoscopy, laparoscopy or mediastinoscopy. Biopsy tests involve the extraction of fluid from the affected area for further tests. Fine needle aspiration is the extraction of fluid along the lungs using a fine long needle, whereas thoracoscopy, bronchoscopy, laparoscopy and mediastinoscopy involve the extraction of fluid from the chest wall, trachea walls, abdomen areas and the respiratory organs respectively.

Mesothelioma is considered to be ‘localized’ if the cancer is contained within the membrane lining surface but it becomes more serious if spread to other parts of the body such as the lungs, chest walls, abdominal organs or the lymph nodes. Treatment for mesothelioma varies depending on the stage of the cancer as well as the location of the affected area.

THE OSCAR GRANT VERDICT: BLATANT TOLERATION OF POLICE TERRORISM & BLACK OUTRAGE AGAINST PREDATOR POLICE OFFICERS

In the case of Oscar Grant of California the verdict has returned a conviction of guilt on involuntary manslaughter (2-4 yrs) for Officer Mehserle who committed the vile act against Mr. Grant. The videos of this act was broadcasted on the world wide web for all to see, and many people feel as though the verdict should have been more like murder with a sentence of life in prison. However, Officer Mehserle proclaimed to have been confused at the time of pulling the gun, for he thought he was actually reaching for his tazer. Many people feel that as a trained officer Mr. Mehserle should not be able to use such an excuse, because he should be held to a higher standard when it comes to making mistakes that ultimately conflict with the law, as in this case with Mr. Grant being shot and killed.

On the other hand, there are also others who believe that Mr. Mehserle should be left alone due to this ordeal being a “simple mistake”. Well, I disagree wholeheartedly. Mr. Mehserle is a trained police officer who should have known better than to make such a grave mistake. The bottom line is simple; the minute Mr. Grant dared to ask a question or even appeared to be “resisting” arrest he was marked for death. This is the utter sad truth that America has yet to confront. America must admit to its complete TOLERATION of Black males being literally murdered and terrorized by so called peace officers in the “line of duty”. Cops are supposed to protect all citizens and treat them with the utmost respect; however, when it comes to Black males, increasingly each year we’re seeing that this is hardly the case and things are only getting worse.

Police unions play a large role in the protection of officers. In fact, officers are not readily investigated in certain criminal allegations as fast as a “regular” citizen would be which alone should be seen as illegal. If a person is accused of a crime he/she should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and there shouldn’t be any special considerations for anyone. Government employees must not be characterized as in being above the law under any circumstances. However, when it comes to cops they seem to be consistently above the law. When a cop murders a Black male it is equivalent to a Black male being lynched back during the good ole days. Why? Well, let’s see; when it happened back then the murderous animals who committed the act got away with it time and time again. They also got away with the evil act because it was TOLERATED by society. What is the difference between that vile act and the case of Oscar Grant? When will the American society wake up and begin to take a stand against the vivid terrorism that has been going on against Black males since the inception of this nation? Why is such acts tolerated by society? Is it embedded within the American moral code that Black males are worthless pieces of craps worthy of death at all costs? The taking of a person’s life should never been labeled as a mistake when a cop is involved; if anything it should be readily justified, but in the case of Oscar Grant it doesn’t fit the bill!

Race and policing dates back to slavery; when the only job the officer (slave catcher) had was to return run away slaves back to the plantation to be brutalized. Perhaps this is why Black males aren’t granted justice in cases similar to Grant’s. I once wrote an essay which can be found on my blog or facebook notes section titled, “From the slave catcher to the modern day police officer”. I chose that title because it is true. Most officers can be seen as slave catchers based on their attitudes and actions towards Blacks. The truth is that social control today mimics the same kind of social control that we thought was rid of from our society. Proof of that can be found in the stats, which readily shows who is targeted and who isn’t. Scholarly research from within the field of criminology paints the picture all too well, but it is ignored by society and those who holds power.

Why is it that in this day and age with a Black POTUS and a Black Attorney Gen we still cannot seem to solve the issue of race and law enforcement? There must be a deep covert toleration built beneath the surface that grants officers the right to “shoot to kill” Black males. How can America claim to have come through the tunnel of equality when it has yet to find it? The conversation on race in America hasn’t even begun to start and until that conversation is had we can expect to see hundreds of more Blacks males shot and killed by police officers who for the most part have been trained to do such. Meanwhile society sits back and says, “Well let those negroes join the rest of their fallen Black undesirable forbearers.” America isn’t even ashamed of its utter complete sickness! Yet it dares to judge other nations!!

RAND PAUL AND THE REALITY OF RACIAL POLITICS

On Rachel Maddow’s show which aired on 5/20 she presented to her audience the reality of racial politics. She had based her thesis off of the exchange she had with Rand Paul the night before on her show. Rand Paul by his own admittance denied the need for certain parts or provisions within the Civil Rights Acts. This comes on the eve of a great exchange of racial reality that is about to hit the continental U.S that would most likely mimic the days of those seen back during the sixties IF this isn't identified as a teachable moment. With Paul’s sentiments being exclusively and readily accepted by his supporters (tea party) and by other members of Congress, things are surely to heat up. However the biggest question of all lies with the POTUS! What says Barack Obama on these issues? For the longest Pres. Obama has been trying to avoid issues of race; he even failed to attend the World Conference on Racism. As a self proclaimed Black man living in America some would frown heavily upon his absence from such an important conference, which probably meant a lot to many disenfranchised people here in America.

The fact is the POTUS needs to stand up once and for all and address the issue of race in America. With front runners like Paul gaining credibility among great portions of the citizenry one must begin to ponder as to whether or not we’re going back in time. Paul blatantly admitted that he would be for segregation on the behalf of private businesses, which of course is exclusively probhibited within the Civil Rights Acts. Instead of backing off of his politically incorrect stance, he instead tried to sustain a purest point of view by speaking on the topic philosophically which resulted in an utter complete failure. Many people feel that consequentially his ride for the U.S Senate seat in KY is indeed over; however, I beg to differ. I beg to differ for one simple reason. If Paul is bold enough to appear on national television and say what he has stated, you better damn well believe that somewhere deep down inside he knows that those words will not threaten his chances at getting the Senate seat. This is because those who put in him in that position are also in association with his world view. Yes, that means the tea partiers or whatever they wish to call themselves share the same points of view, and irregardless to what the media may say about Paul, they’re going to still vote for him when the time comes and it may even attract more supporters. This is the exact same pattern of racial politics that had taken place back during the sixties and prior. It is simply identity politics. Tea partiers, who are closet racists for the most part as Maddow revealed clearly via much of her common sense evidence on her show, are going to congregate around people who are intelligent enough such as Paul to run on a segregationist platform while not appearing to do so—stealth mode!

Paul and the alike rely heavily on “intellectual debates” as Paul calls them in order to “modify” certain policies or at least reconsider the language of certain statutory laws. By using the phrase “intellectual debates” they thereby dilute all possible accusations of racism, on the grounds of claiming a philosophical stance as Paul tried to indicate on Maddow’s show. However, when faced against an equally intelligent person, such a stance will fail to ignite. Maddow was smart enough to throw back hypotheticals, which Paul gave total disregard to because he knew that if he had answered it would expose his hypocrisy and thus his inner racism. Yet even with his complete dodging of Maddow’s questions his racism reeked through faster than light could shine! This occurrence should be a teachable moment for most in America and around the world who actually believe Paul’s world view is non existent. The fact as Maddow stated is that they’re still around. Parading among us but beneath the surface in stealth mode, just waiting to attack the very essence and fabric of what makes America what it is today. They seek to bring forth their filthy diseased appetite for xenophobic policy and impose it onto everyone who is different, even those who are like themselves but fail to identify with their sentiments. These people, things, idiots, creatures are innately dangerous and are highly contagious to others who are too weak to understand reason from blatant falsehoods supported by Paul and the alike.

Those who share Paul’s beliefs are on a mission. A mission that seeks to regenerate the southern strategy in efforts of “taking their country back” to the good ole days. They seek to reengage in an America that was in the midst of a racial catastrophe. An America that had a heart that only a monster from the deepest depths of hell could breathe life into. Paul and the alike are similar to all forms of terror that wishes to see the downfall of America. They’re indeed what some would readily call domestic terrorists. They claim to be patriots when in reality they’re amateur imperialists trying to impose their view onto the rest of society, in efforts of trying to rule over every aspect of American life. Their political ideology is born out of nothingness, for their logic is flawed and their care for America is polluted. These people care not for the views of others because like a terrorist many of them are willing to die for their beliefs just as they would tell you their ancestors did in the civil war. Yes, there is a war going on here, and those who notice this war will speak logic into the veins of America, while those who will profit or seek trouble will drown happily in their own propaganda in order to push their agenda forward to an old version of America. On the other hand, many would consider the plight of the tea partiers to be valid. With big banks taking over our country and blatant taxation without representation which they so readily claim, some might think that their demands are indeed acceptable and even revolutionary. On the contrary, others may feel that their inability to address the obvious racism within their ranks pretty much destroys all that they claim to stand for, whether good or bad. The overt racism that many tea partiers seem to display is irrefutable, for the signs at their protests are always high and clear as to what their racial beliefs are. To date there hasn’t been one leader from the group to come out and condemn such nonsense. This is clearly where the tea partiers begin to lose much needed credibility.

The question is will the POTUS finally step up and speak about the issue of race in America, for if he fails, just like back in the good ole days, many lives will be at stake as a race war is undoubtedly beginning to approach the shores of America in a quiet yet stern manner. Whether some consider my words to be extreme or not, one thing is clear and irrefutable: We’re only in the beginning stage of a terrible tempest that has yet to show up on the radar!

ARE WHITE MILITIA GROUPS NOT TERRORISTS AND TRAITORS TO THE UNITIED STATES: A QUICK ANALYSIS OF THE TEA PARTIES & MILITIA GROUPS

The anniversary of the Okalahoma bombing has arrived and yet people still cannot seem to equate modern day tea parties and underground militia groups (which are mostly white) to being like that of a terrorist group. Are these groups NOT a threat to the existence of the U.S government and its people? Do they not make their sentiments clear enough for ALL TO SEE? Why is it then do we have a government and a media structure that fails to label these groups of people as they truly are? Instead these right winged radical people are labeled as mentally ill, or better yet just a common trouble maker. Is this fair to all others who are usually readily labeled as terrorists or enemies of state?

For example, Arab Muslims who are racially profiled due to the war on terror, or Blacks who are racially profiled due to the war on drugs? How about Hispanics and other perceived immigrants who are readily labeled as “illegals” thanks to the new war against illegal immigration? Why is it that when the perpetrator is White, suddenly they’re not labeled and painted as the enemy? Why are they not labeled as enemy combatants and sent to places like Gitmo? After all they’re charging war against the state without the authority to do so, just like the many Arabs who have been labeled as enemy combatants due to participating arbitrarily in war! Therefore, one must ask, is there truly a difference between these angry Whites and the Arab Muslims who have been considered enemy combatants? Why are the Black Panthers considered worst than the KKK among most Americans, when the ACTIONS of both groups pretty much speak for themselves? Will there ever be a war waged against Whites that will effectively profile against them racially? Why is it that Whites seem to be the ONLY protected group within the U.S who has yet to have a war waged against them by the state? Why is this tolerated by this society and what can we do to stop state supported racial profiling?

EXTREME SENTENCING OF YOUTH

America is the land of the free, the land that is the alleged beacon of morality, yet we still believe in punishing children like that of an adult, why? We know it to be true that many adults within this society are set up to be criminals and branded life time felons; however, when this type of oppression begin to transcend down onto juveniles one must wonder why it is even allowed to be remotely thought of. Disparities in juvenile justice are extremely similar to the disparities found in that of the adult criminal justice system. Race and socioeconomic factors are clearly exhibited within the disparities and the loads of studies and scholastic writings that are out there on the subject. Do you believe in the death penalty for children? Do you believe in life sentences for juveniles? Is the juvenile system moving away from treatment and slowly slipping into a just deserts setup? What forms of propaganda are out there that allows society to tolerate such nonsense? The juveniles in America are in dire need of relief from the INJUSTICE system, why are their needs being ignored? Most importantly, why do racial disparities exist within the JUVENILE justice system? America the beautiful, the great, the land of the free and opportunity—huh? The magnificent Dr. Dohrn has worked extensively to bring light onto this matter, below are a series of vids where she is lecturing on this subject matter. CRACK COCAINE DISPARITY & SENTENCING: DEMOCRATS V. REPUBLICANS

I will not cover too much academic history within this note here because I am assuming that for the most part those who will read this note will already have knowledge of the disparity. This note is mainly for establishing a discussion base that will ultimately debate or break down why such a disparity even exists. Scientifically speaking, it has already been determined that crack and coke are equal in their capacity to affect the human body, therefore the question must be asked, why is it that those who are arrested for crack possession gain longer sentences than those who are arrested off of coke possession? Clearly there isn’t a difference between the two identical drugs; the only difference is that poor folks are more likely than not to have possession of crack while those who are economically better off are more aligned with coke.

I think the proof is irrefutable as to the nonsense factor of this disparity. Clearly both forms are identical in nature and can have the same affect on the human body. The question I feel society should be asking is who’s responsible for allowing this disparity to exist? Just the other day the disparity was lowered to a lower percentage by an act of congress. Therefore congress doesn’t see harm with having the disparity; however, they felt that the least they can do is lower the disparity so that the harm will not be as hard felt. Another harsh reality is the fact that it is mostly blacks who are impacted negatively tby the disparity, yet time and time again blacks continue to vote for democratic politicians who are not doing anything about social justice. Blacks are voting for these politicians based off of lip service for the most part, because democrats are just as absent on black issues as the republicans. Even Kennedy is guilty of adding to the suffering of blacks, because he was involved in proposing the mandatory sentencing on the fed level, likewise with Clinton and his Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act, yet both of those politicians are allegedly among the most liberal of those who have ever stepped foot in Washington, yea ok!

People who are on the lower levels of the economic latter need to wake up and realize that both Democrats and Republicans are two of a kind when it comes to social injustice and they’re not willing to take on the fight to improve the system. Both sides are afraid of being labeled soft on crime, and for the most part neither side will ever have to live in a setting whereby they are forced to wake up to social disorganization and crime on a daily basis. More than half of the folks in Washington and within state congresses probably never have had to live in such conditions, which for the most part makes them ignorant to the conditions of these neighborhoods, yet on a daily basis they continue to pass laws regarding these neighborhoods without ever taking notice to the scholarship within criminology, which has for the longest already outlined what needs to be done. Locking more people up will only turn crime into a public health issue, and it will worsen the conditions further due the habitual usage of just deserts. As a result, people are released from prison with a vendetta against society to only end up right back in prison partly due to legalized discrimination against those who are labeled felons. The crack cocaine disparity makes it legal for the gov’t to send blacks back to the conditions that many of their ancestors have had to face in the past. The war on drugs brought back a load of past evils: 1. The passing system whose modern day representation is the Terry Standard (Terry Stops) due to the war on drugs cops are more eager to find drugs to make arrests even if it means violating the constitution. As a result of Terry v. Ohio (1968) combined with the war on drugs, blacks are disproportionately unprotected by the fourth amendment. 2. The pig laws whose modern day representation is indeed the War on Drugs. 3. Jim Crow whose modern day representation is the labeling of becoming a felon and therefore having all of your rights snatched away, namely one’s right to vote. Becoming a felon is like becoming apart of the lower caste system that blacks were forced into during Jim Crow. In short, the crack cocaine disparity along with the war on drugs turns many blacks into felons. 4. Slavery whose modern day representation is the slave labor that corporations gain off of prisoners who are primarily incarcerated in private prisons… I can go on and on with the disparities and the racist implications behind such policies, however I am going to leave it up to the readers to finish up this conversation.

The question is simple; do bad habits eventually die out? Why is it that we have two political parties that are unwilling to accept the sociological truths of this system? Why is it that blacks STILL continue to be oppressed by the systems of social control within the U.S? Why are blacks targeted, what is it about black folks that this society/govt hates? Why hasn’t this yet been labeled a violation of Human Rights? It is time for blacks to vote within their collective interest and not be fooled by political scumbags who are only looking to be reelected. Again, BOTH parties are at fault because it is BOTH parties that consistently vote yes for these discriminating policies, all while blatantly ignoring the scholarship of criminology which documents the effects of this system in a social science manner. Pres. Obama has said countless times that he was aware of such disparities and wanted them gone, yet all he can do is sign a dumb ass bill that will decrease the disparities rather than getting rid of them completely? I think all of those who have died for the right for his ass to be in the white house are now turning in their graves! Obama has sold himself severely short with that one; let’s not even talk about how he is ignoring black political issues. The NAACP, The Urban League and all of those other organizations that are supposedly here to help are worthless pieces of shits who have been long paid off to keep shut on black issues, so they too should be immediately rejected. The only thing The Congressional Black Caucus knows how to do is waste money on parties and take setbacks from corporations that does nothing for the black community.

Some blacks and those who are on the lower levels must push for a progressive candidate that is going to be willing to stand tall and stand proud for what is right, not a coward or an ass kisser to the democratic caucus or some colorblind jackass from the republican party. It is time to expose the phonies to the masses and let’s hope that society isn’t blind enough to not see the truth before their very eyes! A nation that has lost compassion for its fellow man is a nation that has denied its own existence and may as well be dead!

RACISM DEFINED: IS IT A MENTAL ILLNESS AND A FORM OF INDIRECT GENOCIDE?

*In no way am I trying to generalize all whites within this note. I maintain that there is a clear distinction between those whites who enjoy the presence of racism and those who don’t!

When the term racism is discussed there is almost never a mention of what makes it so acceptable to those who have power engaging within racism. We know why it is here and what it can potentially do but the one question must be asked; is it indeed a form of mental illness? I will get to the genocide portion later; however, let us focus on the mental illness portion first. Racism is a system that allows a person or people to feel superior to others who are considered different. Furthermore, racism is the belief that race is a primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial difference produce an inherent superiority of a particular race. Now when we focus on the notion of being superior how can one attempt to rationalize such stupidity, without first controlling the social structure of the society in which they live to bring about such results. For example, in criminology the positivist school exhaustively tried to label those who are non-white as imbeciles and this was supposed to be supported by science. Yet when their findings are broken down and reconstructed their conclusions fails miserably. There is no such thing as one human being better than any other human because of race, yet for some reason people believe ever so greatly that they are indeed superior. In America it has been the white race that has benefited from racism ever since the birth of this nation. Whites have always gained control of almost every institution within the borders of the U.S. Three primary institutions they have been quite undefeated in keeping control are, politics, social control, and economics. One may conclude that in order to maintain superiority a person or group would have to have unanimous control over those main three institutions. Sadly, even in the present, whites still have unanimous control in those main institutions of superiority. There is an exclusion of black scholars and other minorities throughout all three of those institutions. The exclusion is done by orchestrating different mechanism within the structure that will limit the capacity for other races to become successful. For the sake of this essay I will label those mechanisms as “separation agents” I call them that because the function of such mechanisms is to effectively separate everyone else from those who are allegedly superior. For example, how many black senators are there in congress? What is the count on minority governors? If one were to do the research on those two questions they would readily find that there aren’t enough in either area.

So now that we have established the fact that separation agents are invented to give the illusion of superiority to whites, a very serious question must be asked; if whites were superior why must they invent separation agents to limit competition from other races? The answer is simple, because they are not superior. Through the use of various different separation agents, white racists are able to give off the illusion that they are indeed superior by getting others to feel as though they are inferior. One powerful separation agent that is used quite effectively by the power structure is the use of the media. The media dictates to the population images and stories. If society is fed with negative images and stories all the time about everyone except whites, then subconsciously non-white folks began to adopt the traits that they are labeled with having (see labeling theory). For example, if a black young male is constantly shown that success as a black man is becoming a rapper, then he will indeed aspire to become a rapper. Notice how the media never fails at excluding to show young black males positive role models from other fields, especially the fields of imminent control as I’ve stated earlier; politics, social control, and economics. If young black children were shown that they too can achieve to those levels, it would of course jeopardize the falsified superiority that whites have within those three main institutions. This is precisely why there is a shortage of black lawyers and blacks with PhDs pertaining to social control, whether it is criminology or sociology, this is indeed supplemented by two other separation agents, the GRE and the LSAT. The supremacists know that in order to maintain power and order they must effectively crush every opportunity that would bring competition their way; in short I will label this as social-capitalism.

Social-capitalism can be defined as the exploitation and incapacitation of groups who are targeted by another group in a stronghold attempt to keep one group at the top while the disliked groups remain in a slave like condition, possibly reaching for objectives and goals that are sadly not meant for them to obtain—institutionalized racism! It is a greed justified by hatred and a superiority complex. A human rights violation of unimaginable levels and the greatest threat to peace and humanity!

Another separation agent that is used to maintain white superiority is the controlling of academia on all fronts especially those disciplines that fall under social control. This is when crime control and law comes into play; the disparities in death penalty cases or the criminal justice system as a whole, Gideon v. Wainwright (1963) and other various landmark cases that has a relevance to the need for whites to maintain superiority. Gideon is the one case that orchestrated the public defenders office throughout the nation; however, is Gideon being kept up to constitutional standards in modern day America? I think not! Indigent offenders who are overwhelmingly black still do not have access to effective council; Strickland v Washington (1984) clearly is a case that has long come about after Gideon and still blacks are not awarded with a fair fight in court. To go a little deeper how can an indigent offender challenge so called forensic expert testimony if he/she doesn’t have the resources to do so? I challenge anyone to find a case whereby an indigent offender was awarded such access? As result, of these disparities statistics are used to further dismantle any positive image blacks can possibly have in America. In the U.S and sadly even abroad it is almost customary to label blacks as criminals and possible convicts. This silliness became sanctioned by the U.S Supreme Court in Terry v. Ohio (1968). Now by mere speculation and alleged suspicion, a black man who has already been labeled as a criminal can now be stopped without a sense of probable cause being present. As a result, blacks are disproportionately unprotected by the fourth amendment. Blacks were probably slightly treated better during Jim Crow and the Black Codes. What allows this to happen one might ask, my response would be social-capitalism and racism.

It is the need for one group to remain falsely superior to another. This hypocrisy can readily be seen when it comes to drug distribution and usage. Study after study has shown that whites account for more drug usage than blacks yet blacks are labeled as the kings and queens of drugs—unbelievable! Let’s not even touch on economic injustice. When blacks were freed, were they freed with any capital? How were they supposed to set up shop and maintain prosperity? This is precisely why economic poverty exists so widespread for so many blacks in the U.S. Unlike whites blacks didn’t have a chance to inherent prosperity from their families. Yet some whites feel superior when it comes to having more riches than others, well of course you can when you have limited the capacity for others to compete and be on the level of yourself. These types of things are done to maintain the highest level of superiority. Separation agents however, are gravely needed in order to give off the illusion of superiority and inferiority, these separation agents are justified via statistics or other various forms of academia and mind control techniques. This superiority is of course mental, because if others were given the opportunity to truly compete for a joyous life, we would find that everyone else can be successful and economically sufficient as well. We will find that there truly isn’t a difference in race and success. Suddenly we would find children in the inner city daring to dream, and then reaching those dreams after college or diligent training. Success for all people will blossom so far it would shed light in space and beyond.

For the second portion of this essay, the question was asked, is racism a form of indirect genocide? Let’s examine the inner cities of America and the condition in which the victims of social-capitalism find themselves. They find themselves held up in captivity and born into circumstances that are completely out of their control, and with their collective future already decided for them. Some will become murderers, druggies, drug dealers, repeat offenders, etc. Criminologists that are sympathetic to the struggles of the lower caste in America are almost readily excluded from the overall conversation on crime control. This is of course done to maintain white superiority, and to stomp out all sociological reasons for crime, because under white supremacy it is only the legalistic definition of crime that matters, which is of course written by majority white legislative bodies. As a result, of being forced against the wall, inner cities turn into battlefields of hate, incapacitation, deprivation, and degradation; with teenagers living lives well beyond their age and comprehension. Organizing is almost inevitably non-existent due to social strain and other associated forms of ANOMIE. Consequently, gangs become the determined power force in many of these communities and because they’re unable to turn against the common enemy which is the power structure they indeed begin to kill off each other. The love and respect for life is readily expunged from the minds of those innocent victims of racism as they are forced to turn against each other for the grab of the last crumb dropped from the powerful gates of capitalism. This form of destruction was labeled a case of indirect genocide by scholars Robert Johnson and Paul Leighton in their powerful article titled, “Black Genocide? Preliminary Thoughts On the Plight of America’s Poor Black Men”. This can indeed be true, due to the simple fact that the U.S govt tolerates the fact that blacks are killing each other off in its own inner cities. Instead of trying to intervene in meaningful ways, the govt sits back and adopt harder criminal codes that will not only punish these victims of racism further but also return them to society with a vendetta. It is indirect genocide each and every time this society sits by and allows people to be consumed by their negative circumstances. It is indeed indirect genocide each and every time there are no resources around to help uplift those from disadvantaged neighborhoods. Yes, it is also indirect genocide each and every time blacks are attacked by the prison industrialization complex and forced to work within the prison on slave wages. It is also indirect genocide when women and men are snatched from their families and sent to jail off of non violent offences, which ultimately puts their children at risk for juvenile delinquency, which ultimately sends them on their path to a robust criminal career, thus labeling the entire family inherently criminal. Breaking families up is somewhat reminiscent to the days of slavery. The fact is simple the social and economic policy that is directed at those who are without in this country is nothing short of genocide in stealth. When we look at what racism is and why it exists, clearly we know that it can only be labeled as a mental illness. A mental illness that is passed down from generation to generation and of course a mental illness that has yet to be discovered. It is a mental illness whose victims or drones ignore the progressions of others, they seeks to rationalize the social disembowelment of cultures and identities that are not their own. So long as things are going their way, they’re ok! They don’t have time to share and recognize the beauty and capacity in others. White racists get off on the need of seeing other people suffer; it is like a trigger that gives them a mental orgasm, it is like there is a appetite for torturing embedded therein. Racism is a mental illness that robs the mind of its ability to function properly, while rendering its victims into an unknown form of evilhood and eventual self destruction. This mental illness leads to the destruction of others, the pillaging, dehumanization, and exploitation of others, all while the victims of this illness wait to self destruct when all else has been defeated. Quite frankly, if there weren’t others around for the victims of this mental illness to attack, they would divide themselves and destroy each other, for all they know is war and destruction. The time has come for white anti racists to stand up and teach their fellow mates how to overcome this mental illness. They must learn to embrace people of all colors, cultures, and identities. The truth must be told to them, for it is indeed the truth that shall set them free!

Albeit there is a black man in the Whitehouse, the fact still remains that on the eve of the destruction of this great empire, separation agents still linger on undetected and undefined. Tea partiers around the nation are standing up to let their colors be shown. The GOP, a party that once represented something good has now become a safe haven for white supremacists and mercenaries of divide and capitalism. Many of them have yet to realize the fact that the enemy is indeed those who profit the most off of such divide. They fail to realize that they’re no better than anyone else. It is fear, the fear that is embedded within the mental illness they are inherently born to attain—racism. Just as blacks and other minorities are victims to their destructive behavior, so are they indeed victims to a mental condition that has been long survived by the help of the state. Yes, racism is a state sponsored mental illness. I call this condition the Jean Syndrome. Jean is a character from Xmen and in an Xmen movie called; “The Last Stand” Jean became extremely destructive, killing everyone in sight even those who were mutants like herself. This was due to a strong mental personality disorder, whereby at times she would become herself (good natured) and then something evil. This can easily be seen in real time, for instance, how whites who are sympathetic to minorities are labeled by white racists for wanting to help. The history of white abolitionists can be revisited to see this harsh truth. In modern day times whites who seem to be sympathetic to minorities are readily labeled as Marxists, liberals or socialists just because they believe in equality for all. Also within the movie “The Last Stand,” a cure was found to “correct” mutants and bring them into mainstream society. This can be seen as a representation of people assimilating into white society while leaving their own cultural make up behind in order to be falsely liked by those who are falsely superior. Racism teaches the targeted groups to hate themselves and to feel half human. The disease of racism must be destroyed, for it poses a great harm not only to its victims but even to those who benefit form it. For all of the reasons mentioned above I have no choice but to label racism a form of mental illness and indirect genocide. I can go on and on but what says you?!

DE FACTO SEGRAGATION IN HIGHER EDUCATION: PRIVATE ED v. PUBLIC ED.

On March 4th 2010 there will be a cause of GLOBAL ACTION against the budget cuts within higher education in the public sector. Many of the proposed budget cuts that sadly seem inevitably unbreakable in some districts will directly impact those who are apart of the working class, and predominantly those who are of color. It is indeed a very sad day in America when our government literally seeks rationalize the act of theft against higher education. Essentially, by choosing to cut funding from higher ed our government is thus stealing from the minds of current students as well as those students who will be forthcoming. Intellectual theft is one of the harshest crimes against humanity. A person who is excluded from being able to think, learn, and interact intellectually, is a indeed of victim of a vicious system of forced incapacitation, greed, and the worst of all hatred known to man. This very same act can be reviewed by looking at the educational system in America prior to Brown v Board of Ed (1954). It was a systemic achievement to blockade young people of color from achieving their highest potential academically. Forcing them to be satisfied with a low quality education, while whites went on to private or higher leveled public institutions, which gave them preferential treatment over children of color. Sadly, this pattern of degradation that Brown v. Board of Ed (1954) clearly exhibited infected institutions of higher learning as well, and thus the existence of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) started to proliferate around the nation. This gave off a clear indication that blacks were not willing to sit down and allow whites to tell them they cannot learn, however, disparities in funding between predominantly white institutions (PWIs) and HBCUs were instant and inevitable, this can still be seen today.

The fact is simple, there is a war going on against Public Higher Ed in America. There is no longer a need by politicians to invest money into the leaders/scholars of tomorrow. As a result, those who have more to lose oftentimes will be hit the hardest. Private institutions will continue to receive funding although they will indeed most likely remain the highest priced schools. However, when the price of a public institution is nearly as high as those that are private, that should be seen as a huge disservice to the public and especially to the working class people who work extremely hard to achieve academic and economic success. The only thing I can conclude from the budget cuts is that we are slowly but surely slipping back into de facto segregation similar to times reminiscent of Jim Crow and prior to. People of color who are underrepresented as it is with degrees will begin to drop out, as their need to work more to pay for competing bills will become more important than continuing on with their education. The lack of good dedicated professors will begin to diminish, since talks of eradicating tenure from out of public higher ed is also said to be on the table in several states. Parents will have to file for bankruptcy as a result of paying for their children’s education and threatened with the possibility of being induced into homelessness. All of this while banks flourish in profits and while private institutions continue on to receive private and public grants over public institutions due to the eventual inability for public schools to compete. Overwhelming class sizes and lack of one on one time with professors will also diminish the capacity of public institutions to produce quality programs and students. Again, this is all reminiscent to the educational system my ancestors had to endure, being black in America before Brown v Board (1954). The question must be asked to all people in this day and age; were their marches in vain? Were their giant efforts in ensuring equality for all nothing more than a contract that would end in 2010? On March 4th 2010, it is time for everyone to stand up and have your voice be included. Say no to the privatizing of essential university functions! Say no to those politicians where our words fall on death ears!! Say no to the banks that are looking at a lovely pay day as a result of higher tuition!! Say no to the military and prison industrialization complex. Above all, say no to de facto segregation in Higher Ed!! The revolution has been initiated by the other side, what says you?!

THE ANGRY BLACK WOMAN AND BLACK MAN

Before Black History Month closes out I would like to address yet another topic pertaining to the Black plight in America. The term angry black man/woman has been used quite a bit in different white supremacist societies and the question is, why? I, as a black man have never really been called that term by someone of my own race, yet for some reason the term is still used heavily by other members within society. My one and only question to those who believe in those terms is, why and what constitutes one being an “angry” black man or woman? In my own research the term generally means a black man/woman who “complains” too much about racism or societal inequalities. Also, a black man/woman whom is considered too stuck up or confrontational.

Why is it that every time a black person speaks about his/her experience in America they’re labeled as unpatriotic or even worst ungrateful (wtf)? This same technique was tried on Michelle Obama on the behalf of the right when she stated, “For the first time in my adult life, I am proud of my country,” that was said after her husband Barack was elected president! The right immediately began to attack her, while never asking why she spoke out such words. What is the fixation by non-blacks to label blacks who speak upon their experiences or who critiques this nation angry black men/women? Do these people not break down the validity to what the alleged angry black man/woman is saying, or is it another way to marginalize people based on their “foreign” culture or life experiences? Everyone does not grow up the same way in America; there are loads of social barriers to prove that. Something isn’t clear about this technique; to me it is an attempt to discount the fact that blacks are living human beings with a story to tell just as anyone else. Stop using the term and instead listen and if necessary refute! Everyone’s experience and history has a right to be heard. The only history people are taught in K-12 is white American history, yet people are expected NOT to complain about that. The only thing blacks are taught about themselves during K-12 is that they were nothing more than a damn slave! Yet when the truth is told they’re labeled angry, yea ok!

DEFINING CRIME WITHIN LEGALISTIC TERMS.

There seems to be a huge misinterpretation on what crime is in many of the judicial systems throughout the world, however, this is primarily due to the way in which different governments have chosen to define crime. When it comes to the U.S, crime is defined legalistically. Our criminal code is written and made into law by legislators. It is the duty of the legislator to define right and wrong and somehow fit it into the system of laws. In our system of law there are two types, statutory and case law. Again, statutory law is law that have been passed by legislatures and placed in the state criminal code or federal criminal code and case law stands for how judges interpret law. Certain policy is set by the courts as well, when it comes to cases where possible policy may need to be reexamined (Plessy v. Ferguson). Once the law is interpreted it becomes the basis for legal rulings in future cases (stare decisis).

Crime in the U.S must be an intentional act. In our system there is something called mens rea and actus reas. To be convicted of crime the State must prove both. It has the burden of proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. Mens rea deals with the state of mind, while actus reas stands for the actual act. In the U.S system of laws one must have committed some act to be found guilty of a crime. Under the U.S system if you’re found guilty of violating the law then you’re “legally guilty.” I use the term legally guilty, because once a person is convicted according to law, then they’re guilty based on law and only law, nothing else. However, defining crime within legalistic terms can have devastating setbacks on society or certain members of society. Under this system it is very easy for disparities to come about and grow without a care, because people are more concerned with the legalistic definition than the sociological definitions of crime, which are studied by criminologists. The legal academy, although it tries its best to define crime within the context of law, race, and other sociological factors, they fail miserably at getting their points across due to the simple fact that they’re unable to travel outside of the legal field. Therefore, although they may write amazing articles on certain setbacks in the law, there will be certain key sociological factors missing. When it comes to legal scholars such as Paul Butler and Michelle Alexander we find that they’ve been quite successful in borrowing from the field of criminology, a unique branch of sociology to help make their profound points within their writings.

However, the vast majority of legal scholars are extremely oblivious to the field of criminology and because of that other key factors are not heard. Lawyers are in many ways synonymous with politics, and if they’re going to write on a certain issue pertaining to the law and injustice one would at least hope they’re covering all parts of the problem, but that is not the case! The courts are extremely guilty of ignoring sociological evidence. Even where evidence is presented that is overwhelming such as in the US Supreme Court decision death penalty case, McClesky v Kemp (1987), the court returns to legalistic arguments. Here the high Court was provided huge amounts of the very best statistical evidence (The Baldus study) that showed that black defendants were much more likely to be sentenced to death compared to white defendants even though the crime was the same. The US Supreme Court simply said, that even though the statistics show this pattern, in this particular case of McClesky’s appeal, he had to show specifically that he was discriminated against. The courts in short, follow legalistic arguments, not sociological.

This is precisely why racial injustice continues to exist within the court system, due to the lack of the sociological perspective being included within the writing of law. It is as though the field of criminology exists for its health. The only way to combat racial injustice in the US is to combine the two academies together. We need the best legal and criminology scholars to come together and conduct research and publishing. This is the only way to truly influence politicians on making change. Society as well, must be educated on defining crime. People must know that law on the books are written by fellow human beings whom in many cases are biased, due to party politics and they may not have your best interest in hand if you’re indeed a targeted group. When we look at the history blacks have had in the US when it comes to law enforcement it is more than clear to cite that they’re a targeted group. The field of criminology and sociology collectively, has a ton of scholarly information showcasing this sad reality, yet legislators continue to draft up law that blatantly discriminate against blacks, totally showing their ignorance to the possible effects of their bills. The prison system is comprised mostly of blacks. The public defender office, which is overburdened with cases is almost all the time utilized by poor blacks, so much for Gideon v. Wainwright (1963).

The fact is simple; law defined within legalistic terms will always be a threat to society if the field of criminology is readily ignored time and time again. Problems of injustice cannot be fixed unless the courts finally start to acknowledge the fact that all crime has a sociology to it that must be acknowledged. The courts must begin to acknowledge offenders’ socio-economical status as a possible factor to crime. It is also wise for the courts to start acknowledging one’s psycho-sociological status as well. These factors with a host of many others are covered within the field of criminology all the time, yet they receive no utilization from legislators or the legal academy. If there are loads of black men being jailed for drug offenses, the more proper approach would be to have a criminologist investigate the issue and then immediately following his findings politicians/lawyers would take those findings under consideration, and then a possible law will be drafted into a bill and voted on. Although that may sound like common sense, our current system doesn’t follow it and therefore crime continues to grow and disparities go through the roof.

This is why I ague that the rule of law is a joke. The rule of law is what the majority wants it to be, and under our system of legalistic crime, the impacts of certain crimes are not seen as important, only the amounts of those convicted, however this was not the case during prohibition when those impacted negatively were majority white. It is easy to conclude with the help of history that unless the law impact whites negatively, nothing will never come about to help those who are non-white. The only hope left is to see both academies (criminology and legal) combine together to fight off injustice. In order to truly define crime, every possible attributing factor to crime must be factored in, especially when it comes to the poor. Crime committed by those up the economic ladder is readily dismissed as frivolous acts not worthy of criminalization. According to government statistics and scholarly research, the poor is disproportionately affected by crime, therefore the law isn’t protecting or helping the poor. Incarcerating someone for his lack of being able to provide for himself is one of the biggest crimes of humanity, and the US government engages in that crime on a daily basis by ignoring the grave importance of the field of criminology. But as the saying goes, history inevitably repeats itself if people do not learn from their prior mistakes, on the other hand with the history of blacks being terrorized by the State, one must ask if the law will ever be written with their welfare in mind?

SUPERIORITY COMPLEX….

This note is basically an add on to something my good friend Melissa Smith has stated under one of my posts to another contributor during a debate. However before I copy and paste her commentary within this note I first want to go over what I feel a superiority complex is. In America and abroad there is something called White Supremacy, which breeds a certain kind of superiority onto Whites who actually believe in it. If we were to scan America and its history in terms of how the White race has maintained its place at the top it would be clear to anyone with common sense that this was done with the help of racism, which as Nikki stated is used as a tool to maintain their power at the top. However in order for such a tool to actually work, the notion of superiority must be believed by all or by enough people. For example, before Brown v. Board of Ed and Plessy v Ferguson the notion of feeling less than had to be imbedded within Black folks to justify the separate but equal treatment. This is best done when racism is included, I.E the fallacy that Blacks are retarded or slow learners and therefore different than Whites when it comes to learning. Although Plessy v Ferguson gave off a lovely victory, disparities still exist today in education, thus some would conclude that we have defacto segregation within our school system today. In addition, because of our defacto segregation in education today, the numbers show as they once did back in History that Whites are achieving at much higher rates than Blacks, which again forces Blacks to wear the badge of inferiority just as their forbearers. However this doesn’t mean the slightest bit that Blacks are inferior to Whites when it comes to education, because the actual problem is based in the quality of education not one’s capacity to learn. The numbers also show that school districts that are mostly filled with people of color receive less funding than those schools that are positioned in suburbia, which is undoubtedly reminiscent to the days of Separate but Equal.

But I wrote all of that to ask the following: Is the superiority complex that many whites hold (not all) just a mental construct? After all the way in which things are set up, are done in a specific manner to give off such numbers that feed into their need to feel superior. For instance, if you want to label Blacks drug dealers then set up laws and put Blacks in a position whereby your labeling will come into fruition, labeling theory tells us this. Is this false sense of superiority just something in their minds? Can they not see reality? Why is it that stats are used to counter common sense question such as these but yet they’re rarely used to actually solve the very issues they claim to point out? In point of fact, it is clear that locking people up for selling drugs isn’t fixing the problem, so why have we not come to other solutions, such as sending those types of offenders to problem solving courts, or better yet actually putting opportunities in drug oriented neighborhoods that will deter the young men of color from engaging in drug dealing? It seems to me that things are set up in such a way as to preserve the superiority complex that many Whites have long been accused of having since the birth of this nation. Sadly, as a result of being labeled less than, many non-whites begin to adhere to their lower-casted status of being subhuman and non-deserving of the same joyfulness in life as Whites, and thus fall into the trap of becoming the many negative things that have been set up for them to become. It is no coincidence that there is such a high level of Black men in prison, for their destiny has already been determined long before birth. IS BLACK HISTORY MONTH BEING OVERSHADOWED BY PRES. OBAMA?

So it is Black History month but yet there seems to be a silence upon it. Nobody is really saying much about it and now the U.S for some reason feels as though it is in the age of colorblindness for some reason. We have a Black president whom to quote from Dr Dyson, “Runs from race more than a brother running from the police” and this Black president as he proclaimed himself to be has yet to acknowledge any of the problems that affect Blacks negatively at disproportionate rates. This president is having a summit on health care, yet he continuously fail to introduce to the table conversations on crime and race, housing and race, and other issues that we know to be problems in the Black community. When will this president grow the courage to attack these historical problems in the Black community? To throw a bone to the right he doesn’t even have to label the issue with race. He can easily just announce it as a conversation, a summit, or a discussion. Him just speaking on a certain issue can have a dramatic effect on a possible outcome, why has he yet to be as courageous as MLK, a person whom most whites like to associate with him although he is nowhere near MLK’s legacy. MLK was far from a coward and he spoke up for what he knew to be truth.

With Obama being in office there is a huge case of colorblindness. People suddenly believe that there are no longer racial tensions in America. Barack being elected allegedly proves that White Supremacy is no longer an issue, when the numbers still show Whites being the least impacted by almost every “negative” thing in society that can paint them a bad picture. But nevertheless Barack is the proof that Blacks have a fair share and everything is equal to now. I am confused because in one breath Blacks are equal and all is ok and then in the next breath we have to put up with manufactured or real statistics that paints us in a negative light thus showing that things are obviously unequal and not ok. Barack getting into the white house is essentially his own accomplishment and not an accomplishment that should be generalized to all Blacks. Yes he is a Harvard educated lawyer, but the masses of Blacks are being weeded out of Law School admission due to the LSAT’s and other discriminatory practices, yet folks don’t wish to talk about that huh? Yes some will get through, due to having the resources to do so, but is that a fair assessment? How the hell do we expect to make the legal profession or any other equally important profession representative to all people in the U.S if we continue on with practices that are CLEARLY hindering that process?

Now of course there is still more time for him to act, however the fact still remains that he is now a year in and he has yet to acknowledge any major problems to alleviate Blacks from the bondage in which they find themselves. Michelle is guilty of the same charge, and so is congress. Senator Buriss is the only standing Black senator in congress, and once his term is up, which is extremely soon, there will be NO Black senators in the American Congress, yet we believe that we’re in a colorblind society. This government and this society are despicable!! Each and every time Black History month comes around they have an opportunity to make change and have it matter the most to those who desperately need change, and yet they pass it up time and time again. To add insult to injury we now have an actual Black president with the majority of Congress on his side and even with that nothing have been even remotely acknowledged. This is a major catastrophe to many Blacks who feel as though they’ve voted for change! Barack Obama didn’t receive over 80% of the Black vote for no reason, many Blacks felt as though he would actually make a change in the system, so that things can be a bit more easier for them. For example, the hundreds of thousands of Black men who are arrested and can no longer live a proper life. How about the Black young adults who voted for him so that their fathers, mothers, sisters, and brothers can get a second chance and their families’ can stay intact. How about the middle school and high school kids who campaigned and held up his signs so that their schools can perform just a tad bit better. Why aren’t these issues being singled out and acknowledged, after all they EXIST yes they EXIST!! Why do those on the right and some on the left wish to act as though they don’t exist. Why is there this pseudo culture of colorblindedness further depressing issues that needs immediate looking in to? His presidency means much more to Blacks than any other race of people within the U.S and to see him blatantly ignore Black issues is something most conscious folk can’t even began to fathom. Other presidents have acknowledged problems that have been disproportionately attached to Blacks why can’t president Obama? People like to fall back on Lincoln who was a bigot and the Civil Rights Acts, yet when we look at incarceration rates we see that Blacks are hardly free. Tim Wise has a new book coming out in May titled, “Color Blind Barack Obama, Post-Racial Liberalism and the Retreat from Racial Equity” I can only hope that his book will somehow put into motion the buzz that is needed to force this President to act. How many progressive Blacks have been invited to the Whitehouse? NONE!

In closing, I would like to state that Blacks are equally citizens just like everyone else with needs that must be addressed. The historical record clearly shows that certain issues Blacks are faced with are nothing close to surprising in this nation. The emergence of these Tea Parties is a clear testament to that. Anyone that would suppose otherwise is clearly in denial. Barack Obama thus far has failed the many Black American leaders that came before him. But then again he isn’t a descendent of slaves either; perhaps this is a reason why? To those Whites who are bigots perhaps there is a difference in threat levels between Black Americans whose ancestors were slaves and those who don’t fit into that genre. Why are we so afraid to acknowledge the mistreatment of Blacks in this allegedly free nation? America is extremely phony for celebrating prior Black leaders knowing damn well that our progress is being purposely delayed. Throwing a bone to Blacks isn’t fixing issues that literally put them back into the Jim Crow era and that includes the electing of Barack Obama. Don’t throw a damn bone and think that will suddenly solve the issues. Petty ass apologies and phony ass speeches are not what is needed the issues must be attacked directly, why are some so afraid to do that? With Obama being the president, do you guys think Black History has lost its buzz to a slight degree? What says you?

ANARCHY OR GOVERNMENT?

As I began to take notice to the extensive conversation that was taking place under my last note on “Societal values and the law” A thought came to mind; a thought in the form of a question, “Anarchy or government?” To what extent are those who are excluded from government recognition are willing to continue on with the current system? When will those who have been excluded finally break away from the system? There seems to be a heavy need for defiance against the system for some, but the question is why don’t they rebel? What is it about this current system whereby some folk are actually being oppressed rather than being included? The Civil Rights Acts were supposed to bring Black Americans into mainstream involvement, however, the broader question to that alleged goal is simple, can that be seen today? Are Black Americans truly apart of mainstream society? How many of them own houses in the suburbs and are actually making it to levels in this society that has been historically unseen. What are the demographics looking like in terms of state and federal congresses—something isn’t right! How about law school and graduate school admissions? As my favorite legal scholar Michelle Alexander would say, this is The New Jim Crow age. However, surprisingly, the act of being left out of government can now be directed to all members of this society, the Patriot Act being the number one reason to that.

Is it better to chose anarchy over government? After all, suffering has been instinctively attached to some persons within this society and only a present thing for others, and even though certain laws were passed to fix such suffering, the suffering remains alive. Will there ever be a change, or will the system continue to go through periods of backwards evolutionary change to give off a visual effect of change, while never succeeding with the actual change that is needed to rectify the mishaps. After boundlessly seeing the failure of the system to commit to change, one may seek to adopt the concept of anarchy. At least under anarchy he isn’t bound to rules made up by another. He isn’t a slave to a system in which he has no say so within. There are no structural barriers in place that purposely have him in bondage while the rhetoric is that he is indeed free. When a person’s back is against the wall and the very system that claims to protect him is holding him back what choices does he have? Although anarchy may appear to be uncivilized to most, to many others the grass on the other side is much greener compared to the usual. To the readers who may be reading this note the question for you is clear, anarchy, government or other?

SOCIETAL VALUES AND THE LAW

As I sat on the phone chit chatting with a very good friend of mine about societal values and law, she and I came to an abrupt halt within our conversation, when I asked the question, “To what extent do we separate religious and/or bias values from neutral values that can be added into the discussion on developing law?” This is a very unique question on almost every debate that would be within the realm of domestic policy. For example, if one were to focus on gay rights, oftentimes the right would shout homosexuality is against God, even though there may be some homosexuals that may be agnostic, atheist, or a different type of Christian. Perhaps some homosexuals believe that their God accepts them. This can also be recognized in the debate on abortion. Usually conservatives are quick to say abortion is too against God. Yes, both sides have an exclusive right to have their voices heard; however, where do we as a civil society draw the line between what is to be considered neutral and what is to be considered a “self value”. Self value meaning a belief that should be limited to just the person who believes. In modern day this would play out like the following: Rhetoric on God being against homosexuals would have no value in the overall debate on gay marriage. Why, because all gays don’t believe the same way. Some may believe in God but not in the way in which how others who are against them do. Therefore the suitable response to “self valued” beliefs would be: your stance can only be limited to those of like belief. I say this because it isn’t fair to exclude certain civil liberties from those who may not believe the same way as others, and therefore, the philosophy behind “societal values” would have to be examined to a much higher magnitude in order to ensure that the eventual law and/or conclusion is fair to all parties. By doing so we ensure the process of democracy and give everyone their fair shares in the discussion. This exact same technique can also be applied to abortion, because there are differing views even within that discussion. There are many different standards of morality also if one were to examine it on a much deeper philosophical level, but these things should be acknowledged to say the least. Neutral values would be beliefs that everyone readily share and are practical for participation within the discussion. For example, mostly everyone would be against murder; also the rationale behind being against murder is easily accessible and understood thus making it logical stance.

Overall, in order to ensure a proper orchestration and implementation of law via the process of democracy we must make sure that everyone’s voice is heard and examined in a highly intellectualized manner. Stances that are not of logic cannot be included; stances that attempt to take civil liberty away from others due to their color, creed, or sexual orientation must also be excluded from the debate. Sadly, one would think Congress actually operates in this manner but the truth is that they don’t. Congress on a daily basis fails to recognize the differing life styles and beliefs of people in America when they’re making law and instead only vote in reference to their personal core beliefs. The constitution guarantees everyone a voice in this land, and that basic right must be rebirthed. The only way in which to bring forth the rebirth of our right to be heard, we must push through a process upon which legislators may use to prevent certain people voices from being disregarded. Congress will have to give extensive viable reasons on why they voted the way they did and this must be mandated. With the presence of too many interest groups and other entities that seem to have more control than the average citizen with a voice, there is a dire need of some form of regulation on the legislative process. By only allowing intellectual stances to be included in the debates and within the writing of law, we can prevent many forms of injustice and errors within the law

With that being said, I ask again folks, to what extent do we separate religious and/or bias values from neutral values that can be added into the discussion on developing law? There has to be a mechanism put in place that will properly define what law is and why we have it. There must also be a broader discussion on how to implement the needs of everyone in an effective manner so that people don’t feel wronged. If we are to be a land where everyone is allegedly heard then this must be done. Although it is said that we have such a process already, the harsh reality is that we don’t! Therefore, I personally move to bring forth a directive that will effectively regulate all actions of congress in stricter terms. What the legislative process needs is efficiency; this cannot be achieved with that which we currently have. To what extent do we separate religious and/or bias values from neutral values that can be added into the discussion on developing law? Most laws that came about and were based out of religious belief failed miserably, i.e. prohibition, which was pushed with religious rhetoric. Do you agree with my plan or do you have a different plan? Or do you feel the system is fine as is?

FROM THE SLAVE CATCHER TO THE MODERN DAY POLICE OFFICER.

Many people oftentimes consider Black Americans to automatically hate cops. They say that Black Americans are inherently un-American but yet never seem to produce the reasoning behind why some African Americans tend to have unpopular views about America. This is equivalent to my last post on, “why become a terrorist”. Americans are quick to outcast people who do not agree with the status quo. Let’s be frank, there is a subtext even to the status quo that all parties and non-Black people in America agree with. On certain racial issues, Whites from all political parties will tend to agree. They will more likely than not agree with the notion that all is fair now, that equal opportunity exist notwithstanding the fact that the results are not matching up. Equal opportunity without equal results means no change.

When we began to examine the history of policing as it relates to Blacks, immediately we’re quenched to revisit the southern style of policing, which at best was nothing more than the slave catcher. Everyone knows the duty of the slave catcher. The slave catcher was a sign of oppression and a representative of the establishment that reminded the runaway of that badge of slavery embedded within the fabric of their very person. The slave catcher’s duty was to maintain the most precious profitable property of the south, which were the slaves. When we compare that to the Northern style policing, which most areas throughout the U.S now have, we still see a sign of oppression, humiliation, and manipulation. Blacks were still being subject to harsh and extreme levels of human rights violations. They were still the subject and symbol of the lawbreaker, the native terrorist who must be contained. There were always scares of Blacks possibly revolting and the establishment knew this.

Let’s go over a brief vague history if we may. When we examine the legacy of freedom for the coloreds in America, we must first begin to take notice to the 13th amendment, which gave Blacks their freedom and rights to exist solely as native born Americans. Although it was heavily noted, that government officials did not recognize the 13th Amendment when it came to Blacks, it was still indeed the first major step to granting Blacks full citizenship. Then sadly, to combat the 13th Amendment, the Black Codes were more forcibly enforced, which limited all movement of Blacks, which made it virtually impossible for Blacks to enjoy their newly granted freedom. The orchestration of the first draconian law against Blacks known as “Pigs Law,” which has been nearly cut out of history, came into fruition as well. Pigs Law imprisoned young Black men at highly disproportionate rates just for “stealing domestic animals” (primarily pigs) on the grounds of basic survival. Due to not being able to move about much (Black Codes), Blacks acted under extreme desperateness to seek food. To combat Pigs Law and the Black Codes, the 14th Amendment came into existence, which gave Blacks equal protection under the law. However, even after that Jim Crow was established, which brings us up to the Civil Rights Acts of 1964 and 1965, which pretty much abolished all possible forms of discrimination, or so we think. Throughout all of these battles, however, it was the police that maintained the order and the discrimination that was bestowed onto Black Americans. Therefore, the unanimous perception that Blacks have on police, is indeed a perception of historical presence and meaning. There is no question of police practices today still mimicking some of the actions that police engaged in during the past, whether that be within the sixties or during slavery. A colleague of mine Christine Bell actually believes that the distain towards police by Blacks may even be somehow genetic, given its historical context. Bell argues that just the mere presence of an officer triggers a negative reaction in the mind of the Black individual. Some scholars within the field of psychology and psychiatry have argued that there is a mental defect that Blacks have in American society when it comes to the power government has over them. Blacks are still disproportionately denied of their civil rights. They still continue to fight for equal protection under the law, and just their simple birth right to exist with the color of their skin. Disparities continue to rise at astronomical rates, while police work double time to maintain “order”. It is clear by the number of Blacks imprisoned, that things aren’t much different from when the Pig Laws were in effect. The prevalent practice of racial profiling by police makes it quite clear that the Black Codes are still here. Court cases on malpractice of police involving criminal procedure issues make it quite clear that the passing system in its fullest context still lives on today. The passing system mandated that slaves caught without the proper paper work can be readily whipped; well today Blacks are readily shot dead, while their family receives no justice—where is the difference? All of these policies/laws are written and brainstormed by politicians primarily from the dominant society, and just like back in history, the police are still the defenders of those ideas. Therefore, when people speak on the validity of Blacks having a bad perception against cops, they must first stop and ask why. People shouldn’t be so quick to label the situation something other than what it actually is. Look through the history and ask what good have the police ever done for Blacks in America? Yes it is easy to say they’re just doing their job, however, they too have a conscious, and the right to choose not to engage in such action. The day must come, whereby everyone’s experiences and history will be acknowledged and considered in the overall conversation on policing in America. Until such a day arrives, most Blacks will continue to see the modern police officer as nothing more than a reflection of his forbearers. Thus, the title of this post stands correct!

WHY BECOME A TERRORIST?

Disclaimer: I Jason Williams in no way support any actions done by any terrorist for any reason. This note is written for discussion purposes only.

There have been awesome discussions under some of my statuses and notes about terrorists and why they chose to become just that. Last year I had written a note titled, American Arrogance. This note and that note will kind of go hand and hand because I believe it is imperative that Americans understand when they’re being arrogant and thus failing to realize the rationale of foreign born folks and why they engage in the activities that they do. For instance, the founders of the U.S were terrorists as well, for they pillaged, and massacred in order to claim this land as their own. Thereafter, they’ve obtained Black African slaves and then forced them to work the lands under severe inhumane conditions, some of which can still be felt today in more overt and subtle ways. The fact is that most Americans suffer from superpatriotism (see Michael Parenti’s, Superpatriotism). There is a sense of Americans being better than the rest of the world, a hugely accepted pompous attitude that Americans perpetuate through the use of military force.

While Americans enjoy their pseudo sense of superiority, those who benefit from it anyways, they fail to realize the realities of those whom they claim are “hating” on them. People do not wish to kill Americans simply because of the standards of living, which really aren’t even all that! Not all foreign born people want to be in America. America still discriminates against minorities and is far from a free world nation when it incarcerates more people than all the other industrialized nations combined! America is not as great as its citizens may think. If the rest of the world suddenly stopped believing in America and all of its so called greatness, America would collapse. Reason being is because America thrives on its reputation and thus attention from the world community. Without its daily dose of attention it would fail miserably. However, people around the world are starting to wake up; they’re starting to realize the hypocrisy in most of America’s philosophy regarding law, government, and foreign policy. America’s secrets are creeping to the surface, with Rev Wright perhaps being one of the pioneers of the modern movement.

If a person is willing to die for a cause, I heavily doubt he is willing to die due to generic claims such as hating the American people for their freedom. The fact is America’s foreign policy handlings have been oppressing foreign nations for decades. America’s foreign policy has never benefited the rest of the world, it has only benefited itself. There is even intersectionality amongst those in America who benefits from its dirty deeds (e.g.) the poor gets nothing from America and its dirty deeds. It is the dominant ruling group that has always been in charge since the very beginning who would plan the murders, and the theft. It is not the oppressed folk that had dealings with America’s foreign policy orchestration. The oppressed folks are taxed without representation anyways. The fact is who would not fight for their own freedom? If your country was being illegally occupied by a foreign nation and your children are being blown away by bombs, who wouldn’t fight in the name of defending one’s sovereign nation and their children?

Why is it ok for Americans to be “terrorists” but when other people want to defend their nation against the real terrorists they’re told to shut up, sit down, and love it! There is something fundamentally wrong about the mental construct in most Americans regarding the war on terror. They’re failing to see the actions of their own nation and the impact those actions have on other human beings around the world. Hell some people in America feel as though their gov’t is oppressing them and have oppressing them for centuries, can they not accuse their gov’t of being a terrorist or inhumane under international criminal law? See, If America is willing to treat its own Black citizens like subhuman creatures, what makes you think it cares about how it will treat foreign nations? What says you?

COMMUNITY POLICING AND HOMELAND SECURITY POLICING

(This is a slight response to an article I read; please see the link below the text to download and view the article for yourself.)

I came across an article that spoke on the issue of community policing and "homeland security policing", and it essentially spoke about how advocates for a new version of community policing under the name of homeland security policing are pushing hard for the original philosophy behind community to be abolished. These advocates believe that terror is of the utmost importance and that it will take the collective help of the communities across the nation to combat terror. Immediately the article gave reference to how funding for community policing has been decreased and thus given to the war on terror, which many would conclude as in being outright sad! My immediate question is simple, isn’t terror a threat that is coming from abroad? To insinuate that we need to conduct “homeland security policing” in the states, is to say that the people are indeed themselves potential terrorist, notwithstanding the fact that we do have domestic terrorism; however the war on terror is gravely pointed at those abroad mainly Arabs and Muslims and now Africans. Therefore, why is there this so called need to push the war on terror into the community policing model?

The reason why the emperors of terror would advocate for homeland security policing is because they specialize in the art of pushing fear onto the masses. As a result of implementing such a model, the citizenry will become further divided, thus creating a very effective police state environment. It would be congruent to the Salem Witch trials massacre. Under the homeland security policing model, everyone and anyone can easily be considered a terrorist and handled accordingly. Why should funding that went to excellent community justice programs and initiatives be taken away in the name of “homeland security”? Do we not believe in taking care of domestic issues first, before policing the world? Something is strangely wrong about the ideology that surrounds homeland security policing.

Some scholars have even argued that it is a stronghold attempt to bring back traditional policing, which for the most part gave the image of police v. society—a militaristic take. The riots in the 60s are a direct source as to why a change needed to manifest, which brought about the community policing model. Community policing sought out to bridge the gap between the poor relations of the underprivileged community and the police. It gave such communities the chance to feel as though they are apart of something, and that they too have a say so in the administration of justice. As for the police, it gave them a new perspective on justice, for it displayed the fact that everything doesn’t need to end in an arrest and a conviction and that minorities can be trusted. Traditional policing had no mercy on the public, notwithstanding that the police are supposed to be employed by the public. Even Sir Robert Peel, the inventor of police believed that the police are an extension of the public. Therefore, it is clear to see that the community policing model is the best possible model to be correlated with democracy and what the inventor of police initially felt about policing.

Why then, do we allow for this new fraudulent model, “homeland land security policing” to implement itself into society. Are all scholars being heard on this matter, or are they just simply being silenced and labeled un-American. It comes down to fear propaganda and an apparent plan to institute a police state. Is government perhaps becoming a bit tyrannical with such ideas as homeland security policing? History has shown the realities of police states. Within police states people tend to live in bondage and in complete obedience to the ruling dictator. Is this something the American people want? Although this matter is still only up for debate the fact is, certain traces of this possibly coming to light can be easily shown (e.g) the patriot act, which effectively limits the liberty of the citizenry. Also, the possibility of full body scans within our airports.

Another huge interest in this fraudulent exchange is the fact that those who advocate for homeland security policing can snatch all of the funding. Both the funding they may receive via grants to homeland security and also grants that have traditionally gone to traditional community policing programs, again the article effectively explains this extortion. At the end of the day it comes down to money. People are willing to allow underprivileged communities to fall in exchange for extorting money in the name of so called terror. So long as the people are eating up the fear propaganda, their plan can and will prevail. Where is the justice in this people?! Innocent people who truly need help when it comes to policing are now going to be laid out to dry, as traditional policing slowly but surely rise again to levels that would of course be much higher than previously recorded. With the war against terror, anyone whom is not in sync with the winning ideology will be considered a possible threat. Muslims and Arabs will be quarantined like clock work even if they’re indeed innocent. Disparities will grow to much larger rates, as Blacks may as well be back into the age of Jim Crow or the Black Codes, and Hispanics accused of illegal alieanship. The homeland security policing model is nothing more than a disguise to institute a police state. Homeland security policing takes the original philosophy of community policing and uses it as a mechanism to fight terror, even though the strategies on how to fight terror are strenuously different than crime prevention in underprivileged communities. BUT again, according to most intelligence the threat of terror is not form the American People, it is from abroad, right? Therefore isn’t it a waste of time and money to institute such a strategy? I guess not for the special interest and those in government who are against the American people!

Money being snatched from underprivileged people doesn’t matter anyway to the general public, because all poor people are simply a waste of time. Therefore, it is easy to conclude that because of the perception of the poor in America, the general public will not be able to see the threat in homeland security policing even if it were written in their bibles, because who cares about the poor. It would be the right more than likely to argue for this model of policing, since they have a huge disdain for the poor, notwithstanding their argument against big government—complete contradictory! Who would have known that the war on terror would eventually descend onto the American people themselves, to quote Rev Wright, are the chickens coming home to roost or is this something more sinister?

RACIAL PROFILING

There have been much commentary on the matter of the fourteenth amendment and the fourth amendment; however, the commentary in the arena of public opinion has not yet been put on blast like those opinions that comes from out of the academy or from within the courts. When it comes to ensuring that we have an equal society based on a well functioning democracy, society must make sure that everyone is treated properly and fairly by law enforcement. However, lately there have been huge talks on whether or not Muslims should be profiled due to their possible threat of being terrorists. When it comes to the Black experience here in the U.S, many Blacks should readily be able to sympathize with the Muslims, due to the disproportionate profiling that goes on with Blacks in the U.S. Xenophobia is a bacteria embedded within the fabric of American society, thus it is no stranger to those who’ve been historically oppressed.

When the KKK engaged in their negative activities were they profiled? When the Oklahoma bombing occurred were all white males profiled? This is a testament to where the power and discrimination is spewed from within America. The capturing of a young Nigerian terrorist also put Black Americans as well as Africans or any other African descent person at risk of being profiled, for the difference between most African people cannot be deciphered. In all actuality, one may be able to conclude that racial profiling against Blacks will now occur at record highs within America. In addition, a White American woman was even recorded for having said that the Nigerian boy was in fact an African American, when clearly that is false! But the bigger question is why these people are attacking America? Is it truly because of our standard of living? Is it really because we’re a supposedly a free people, even though half of our society is incarcerated? What makes the U.S any different from any other nation? Too many Americans suffer from superpatriotism, I’d say!

Racial profiling has a detrimental effect on the psychology of those who are affected by it. It attempts to institute a form of modern day Black Codes, which effectively controls a person’s traveling. If we are to be considered a free people, law enforcement should not have the right to stop someone just because they feel someone doesn’t belong in a certain section of a town or because of their race. Police should know better than to engage in the usage of stereotypes when performing their duties, but then again many of them aren’t educated, therefore, is it fair to expect them to have a higher level of understanding? However, again the constitution guarantees everyone equal protection under the law yet time and time again we’re seeing that it doesn’t apply to all, thus we have two societies, one for minorities and one for whites. What gives government the right to predict future crime, why should people that fit a certain profile suffer for the actions of a particular individual or group of people? Are all Muslims guilty of terrorism? Are all Blacks drug dealers? Why are there no labels for Whites? Are whites just innately pure and law abiding? Something simply isn’t right with that picture. According to almost every study or form of statistics, Whites are the angels of society.

Racial social engineering will be the demise of this nation. Racial social engineering is directly connected to the White Supremacy Doctrine, which clearly states that all minorities are beneath Whites and that Whites are the rightful owners to society and all that which it has to offer. Every other race but whites are subsequently labeled and demoted to second classed status. There is no such thing as a White terrorist, or a White drug dealer, etc. Of course this would be the “facts” if Whites are controlling gov’t and most of the studies that dictate to society who’s who. In a White Supremacist society, it is whites who define everyone, not the sovereign individual. White supremacy must be attacked at all levels if we’re going to hope for a better union. White supremacy undermines democracy and thus the constitution. It makes us appear to be a phony society. Some would say White Supremacy is one of the main reasons why the U.S is at war now. Minorities haven’t the power within Congress to truly have a say so in the activities the U.S engages in, therefore, the current situation cannot be fully credited to minorities although they too are apart of the U.S society and this is something most Anti-American foreigners would agree with.

Racial profiling has long been a form of harassment in which the state has used against those whom it deemed an enemy. Strict liability offences have been given out to minorities ten times more than their White counterparts. DWB (driving while Black) was a reality for some time on the Jersey Turnpike until the Feds threatened to take over the State Police. DWB still continues to be a form of harassment to most Blacks throughout the nation. Other minorities besides Blacks are also being impacted by the same thing. Racial profiling never seems to affect whites at least not to the levels that it affects minorities. Therefore, if we’re going to get down to the bottom of profiling we must attack White Supremacy for that is the mother of why profiling exists. The numbers don’t lie; the disparities are clearly present for all to view. It will take this nation to come out of denial and face the fruits of its evil. Not all Whites are bad or happy to be profiting off the suffering of minorities; however, a great deal are either in denial or happy about their status within society. Profiling can be researched back to the days of slavery, again human testimony doesn’t lie, and neither does the disparities! So when I am asked whether or not Muslims will be profiled in America, my question would be most certainly yes, everyone whom isn’t White gets profiled in America, it is customary practice! However, the Muslims will face more of a wrath due to their religion!

RAPISTS AND PUNISHMENT

Disclaimer: I, Jason Williams in no way seek to justify any course of action by any person who wishes to force himself or herself sexually onto another non-consenting human being. (This may be one of my most controversial posts yet, but I felt it needs to be discussed folks).

I always thought that something was fundamentally wrong with those who choose to go out and rape. However, I also feel that the way in which we deal with such persons is completely off base. Clearly, jailing these type of people doesn’t fix the problem, for they come out and become repeat offenders. The question should be, are these people mentally sick? Will incarceration fix the problem, completely? I honestly do not think our current punishment system in place is actually fixing these types of special offenders. The current process is failing to protect society from these intruders. I would say more needs to be learned about the rapist’s brain in order for us to further divulge ourselves into the punishment or treatment process. Perhaps something more in the field of psychology and psychiatry can be developed to better “fix” and/or help these people. Of course I know many people will think of castration, but that will be highly debatable on the grounds of morality.

Many of these offenders clearly admit that they are not in control of their actions. They claim to hear voices, etc. Some would even admit their genuine sexual attraction for youngsters. These are admissions that I don’t think can be fixed by jailing, but rather with extensive medical care. Perhaps a new form of study can be developed to study these types of folks, so that we can bring about better treatment to rectify this unique but ever increasing problem. I really don’t have much to say on this issue; however, I’d love to hear what others have to say on this matter? If you were in charge of setting policy on this issue what would you prescribe?

SOCIAL INJUSTICE AS A FORM OF HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS?

I had a very interesting conversation today with a good friend about social issues. In the U.S social issues for the most part are ignored by the right and more recognized by the left; however, nothing for the most part has truly been done in the name of social justice. It is as though the left pretend to be aware and for social justice, while really doing nothing to fix things. The movement on juvenile justice has now elevated itself to a matter of human rights. When all else fails, the human rights tag is the last inkling of hope towards getting a problem rectified.

For instance, the warehousing of poor people on non-violent offenses can be seen as a violation of human rights (cruel and unusual punishment). Or the unequal health care system the U.S currently has can be seen as such. Institutionalized racism can also be seen as a violation of human rights. Why is it that the U.S gov’t is always so quick to point out the shortcomings of other nations on human rights but cannot seem to face its own failure? I find it utterly disgustingly sad that when all else fails, movements have to praise their cause in the name of human rights. Why is it that such powerful causes such as equality for all, or women’s rights, juvenile justice, minority rights, or gay rights must be polished under the human rights tag? Why are there so many people who are against human rights?

According to natural law, nobody should be forced to exist in a state for which he does not feel compelled to act. A man should be able to live life the way he pleases, for no other human being has the right to command him otherwise! Where is the consciousness of our fellow human beings? Are people simply evil and blatantly oblivious about the well being of other people lives? Anyhow I say social injustices or issues should perhaps be polished under the human rights tag, for it will grow a bigger awareness about the issues on a world wide scale. Some people outside of U.S borders actually believe nothing wrong goes on here, when that couldn’t be further from the truth. If one’s own country isn’t willing to acknowledge its own dirty evil, then the world has the right to know about it. Let the world know that the U.S believes in punishing children of color more harshly than their white counterparts. Let the world know that juveniles in the U.S can easily be waived to adult court whereby they’re convicted and sent to adult prisons where they will forever be lost to humanity and thus reality. Let the world know that the so called leader of the free world believes in denying women and homosexuals equal rights under the law. Let the world know that freedom of religion is not a reality within the borders of the U.S Remind the world that institutionalized racism is still an ongoing battle herein the U.S. Expose the reality that poverty exist within the U.S. Shout out from the roof tops on how many disparities exist here when it comes to the Criminal Justice System, housing, health care, jobs, etc. Lastly, speak on how some people reject these moral rights in the name of religion! Tell them how we have a fake democracy, and how our congress consist mostly of white males (where’s the representation of society therein?). Create NGO’s in the name of these movements so that hope can be more within reach and not just a long lost dream from within another time.

In summation, I’d like to say that, I don’t think people put the human rights tag on certain issues just because they know it will create bigger buzz; however, they oftentimes do it because sadly, it is their last resort to having their issue being heard. It is heavily easy for politicians to skip over certain issues, while deeming them of low priority. However, those whose lives are directly affected by that negligence know that something must happen and that the fight cannot stop at one’s own govt. Therefore, I must say I am proud to be a supporter of human rights. I feel those who are against it, are nothing more than old unchangeable freaks from another time. Someone said under my status that the mistreatment of our fellow humans is simply natural; my response to that is, capitalism and that type of state of mind is unnatural. Nobody owns this earth or its resources; it all exists for the picking of all, not just a top 10 percent. It is time to label the many social issues that we have as matters of human rights folks. Let us see how many govt's will fall under scrutiny? I think we will be surprised! What says you!!??

BELIEVE BLINDLY

He who believes blindly is a man whom is incapable to accessing the senses of reality! Can it be possible for someone who believes in something blindly to be useful to the collective wellbeing of a nation? Is it rational to put faith in a supernatural being or is it more rational to put faith in your fellow man? Overall it comes down to one being afraid of that which is unknown, so instead it may be easier to confirm to societal expectations than to live your life your way. How many people out in the world believe in something out of complete fear? For instance, those who believe in organized religion. Religion says that those who disbelieve are of the devil and will burn in hell for the rest of their lives; however what’s the difference between that and the story of the three little pigs? Believing in something blindly is also believing in something without a care for the facts. We would be a better world if we used the scientific method more frequently.

Why is it that humans have such a hardened infatuation with believing in things out of fear? Do we not care for the facts, or are most humans just too damn afraid to stand up and take things for that they are. Why do we like to fake the funk so much? Then on top of that most people who believe in religion only believe part-time, they don’t follow every rule stated therein their religious doctrines. Those who hold the key to power and control are heavily aware of what blind faith can bring. Blind faith can bring a person complete control over others, it gives a person immense wealth and prosperity. Can anyone imagine being stuck in a body or mindset that is against the very fabric of who you are? Imagine homosexuals who continue to believe in organized religion even though all of them are against their lifestyle. Sadly, some homosexuals even start to think that they can be changed, as though the biology of who they are can instantaneously be “fixed”! Or how about the thinking teen whom is forced to go to church every Sun, but because his family will outcast him he continues to go. Again I ask can anyone imagine being stuck like that? Are most people walking around with severe mental depression and don’t even know it?

Believing blindly can produce detrimental irreversible damage to the world. For instance, the many wars fought in the name of religion. Believing blindly is equivalent to those who support Obama without questioning his activities. We must remember that it is always in good nature to question everything. We should believe nothing that clearly makes no rational sense! Just because something is called a religion today that doesn’t make it any different from those stories that we now call mythologies. However, only those with indomitable strength can see through the bull, only those with thinking minds can stand the pressure it seems. Most humans are too weak, mentally powerless, and out of touch with themselves. Everyone can seem to agree that two plus two is four, yet we cannot agree when it comes to the supernatural. Some of those who believe in Jesus feel as though they’re better than those who believe in Muhammad yet both stories are no better than those who believe in Zeus or the Fairy God Mother. Logic is used only when it suits certain purposes. Most people aren’t willing to use it on the daily, because they just may see things that they are unwilling to accept. Therefore, they just…..continue….to….believe blindly….

THE SOCIAL CONTRACT

The social contract is a very important ingredient within the asphalt that holds our society together. However, when we began to analyze the social contract we have, we cannot do so without first acknowledging democracy. Typically, one may say that both go hand and hand; however, others would say that they don’t necessarily do. For instance, in a democracy the majority rules, whereas in a traditional social contract, the voices of all are heard and acknowledged. Therefore, when we look at the society in which we live today, one may say it is a mixture of both. A social contract is the contract that the people have with a ruling body, hence we the people are willing to give up our sovereignty to governmental entities in order to be respected and protected by the government. This means that whatever we’re giving up will be will worth its forfeiting, since as per the contract the government will be giving us back just as much as we gave away. (remember the patriot act, yikes!) When this contract is put up for examination, some may come to realize that they’re getting nothing out of the contract and are instead victims or prisoners to a vicious careless entity called government. How can the social contract only apply to some and not all? It is as though those who are not included therein are stuck in some sort of societal bubble that doesn’t allow them to do much—a blackcodes of some sort! This is more prevalent with people of color and those of low economical status.

In addition, are people even given the chance to decide whether they agree to the contract or not? Is it fair that one’s birth alone subjects him to a contract for which he knows nothing about? What if a man wishes to live with his complete sovereignty? Why isn’t the social contract revisited every now and then for updating and verification? Could it be due to fear? So long as the vicious entity continues to push out fear propaganda, people will be reluctant to questioning its duties and thus the contract. If a war on terror persists then the government is able to remind the public of its reason to exist notwithstanding all the visible signs of decay within the contract. The social contract is a contract that political parties play around with. All parities are guilty of lies and deceit, and are most likely filled with neighboring folk who cares not about the contract, but rather for greed and power! Their concern lies not with the people or the betterment of society, their concerns are with their own self interest, yet most simply cannot see this. These contract breakers are able to play magic tricks; they’re able to trick the minds of the people, by getting them to defend interests that don’t belong to them. This is precisely why there are poor conservatives who continue to vote for corporations time and time again and not for their own interests.

Something is dangerously demented with the social contract. There are loads upon loads of poor people who haven’t been heard since the days of Roosevelt—definitely wrong! The social contract has now become a virtual mechanism placed deep within the word fear. Fear is the controller of our social contract, because so long as the people are caught up in fear, there could be no changing to the contract. The process of verification can be denied, and the interest of the select few can be furthered. What is the use of a social contract if everyone’s interest isn’t served? Why give up one’s sovereignty to only be held down in bondage like that of a slave. Who gives the right to fellow humans to keep other humans in bondage? What gives these humans the right to act with impunity against the interest of the rest of us? Government is an entity ran by humans not superhumans or supernatural beings. Where is the trust folks? Why are the public so afraid of the humans therein government, is it just a matter of psychological standing or something more? Are the public really just little children without any mental understanding of true freedom, or is it just simply easier to rely on a social contract that has clearly been breached upon? With decades of social engineering via: education, news media, and sprouts of political and cultural ideology I guess it is no wonder of the public’s decision to remain in bondage…. But then what does that say for those of us who are tired of this damn contract and can see that it has been clearly broken??... So long as most of the people are caught up in confusion, I guess it really doesn’t matter what the enlightened people think.

So much for believing in the social contract, eh? What says you?

THE RULE OF LAW

Most Americans are in love with the phrase “The rule of law” however, many on the bottom seem not to connect with such a phrase whether they know it or not. The rule of law is slightly reminiscent to the term democracy, for it implies that the law, which is birthed by the majority, is indeed absolute; therefore, concretely saying that he law will always rule. However, when we begin to examine this social phenomenon in its complete context, we come to find that, depending on the political structure within a society, the majority can easily be those who are the richest, or those who are in ideological control. Anyhow, this is a term most likely to be stated by strict constitutionalists or even most republicans. BUT!!! What does this term mean to those who haven’t the power to stand up and have their voices be heard? Is it morally ok to allow the rule of law to descend onto those whom circumstances are not aligned with that which has been prescribed by law? For instance, if a young female is shoplifting for her hungry child whom is waiting for her under a bridge, is it morally ok to allow the rule of law to affect her?

The problem with the rule of law is that, the law itself is written by humans and oftentimes humans who cannot or simply refuse to sympathize with all walks of life. As a result, the law ends up ignoring the lives and tribulations of others, while only keeping up with middle classed and above values. Therefore, when one says he has respect for the rule of law, he is most likely showing praise to his own superiority over other people in a cheer of knowing that his values are indeed protected by law. He knows he doesn’t have to worry too much about being confronted by law enforcement, because it is either himself or someone within his lane who had written the law. When a society seems to only have poor people locked up within its prisons, clearly that is concrete evidence to the fact that poor people voices are not included in the orchestration of the criminal code. So again, is the rule of law a reputable phrase to be using if one is to consider his society a civilized place to reside? Well some would say that depends, and that is true, for the evidence would have to be present to show injustice. However, what if your society does show the injustice, would it be in upstanding nature to allow such injustices to continue on? Why is it that in America, the evidence shows and yet most of the citizenry are oblivious, notwithstanding, a plethora of human testimony that exists as well?

Yes, we have the rule of law, albeit people are so called breaking the law; however, the deeper philosophical question is whether or not the law is right within the unique circumstances of the law breaker? This is an intermediate step that isn’t included in the process of defining law nor is it recognized in the court of law. If the court’s job is to determine the truth, then why not acknowledge the totality of the situation that led one to committing crime? I can only concede to the fact that once a person is accused he/she hasn’t the right to explain his/her reason as to why, even if that reason is as logical as they may come. This ensures that the rule of law continues on, while never fully giving the accused the full right to explain their defense and have it be heard and examined by reasonable people (juries) who may agree. The rule of law exists the way it does to ensure proper control over those who are not fortunate enough to orchestrate the law itself. It is used as a social control mechanism, to keep certain persons in check. Checking the latest statistics on arrests and convictions will show who is being kept in check and who isn’t. Sure one would be keen to find that it is almost all the time those who are without.

So now the question is how can the rule of law be fixed so that the trust of all can be given to it? The only way to grant that is to allow all backgrounds from all people to be acknowledged when writing the law. Society cannot condemn situations that it creates. Is it fair to say that most poor people are unfairly jailed for things that are out of their control? Society would have to do better on social issues and programs if it chooses to criminalize petty property crimes and it be justified. People mustn’t be allowed or forced to live in conditions that would ultimately end up forcing them to commit “crimes” just to survive. Rational choice theory tells us that criminals are well aware of their actions; notwithstanding, it could also be possible that their choice to commit that crime is likewise a reasonable choice based on their circumstances? The language in law must be attacked to benefit all in order for the rule of law to demand respect from everyone. The law must learn to acknowledge all possibilities and not just the possibilities of a select few.

Where is the justice in someone violating antitrust law and getting off with a slap on the wrist compared to a man who received harsh time for drug possession? Since when it is ok for the system to predict future crime by charging someone with intent to distribute, just because the system feel as though a person had too much drugs within his possession? Yet such an add on is nowhere in sight when it comes to crimes that are committed by people who are in the upper echelons of society. BUT, the rule of law is supposed to be respected?? The rule of law means nothing if the entire society isn’t involved in defining the law. As result, a second classed juncture within society comes into fruition, and within that juncture people usually feel oppressed and unheard of by the dominant society. They are made to feel low and like that of a criminal due to the labeling by dominant folk. Their life experiences within that juncture cannot be reasoned by those who are not apart of that juncture, which is primarily why the second classed people end up in literal captivity, usually due to circumstances out of their control, for a person cannot help what he/she has been born into. Yet such a reality is not recognized in the court of law, even though it is truth, which the court claims to stand for. But we’re supposed to die for the rule of law in our nation’s wars? We’re supposed to be the emperors of the rule of law! All other nations that don’t have the rule of law are deemed uncivilized and not up to date! Sadly, many people uphold that fallacy without even noticing what the rule of law means to their own society! There are two sides to every coin. What says you?

The United Nations Supports Rapists in the Democratic Republic of the Congo

The rape victims of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) need some people in this world to stand up for some principles and to get the United Nations (UN) to do what it should do.

The people who should be interested in the DRC in New York, Washington DC, Los Angeles, and even Paris, London and Vienna are too busy Christmas shopping to intervene to avoid another United Nations (UN) scandal. These folks need to be taken from their holiday sprees, and they need to begin focus on something that can really mean something instead.

On Monday, December 21, the UN Security Council (SC) will be considering the renewal of the Organization Mission to DRC (MONUC) and it needs a push in a principled direction.

The debate that truly needs to take place pits the principles of the UN against the axiom, “politics as usual.” It is more than unfortunate to report that Member States are gravitating toward the lowest common denominator.

Here is the reality:

The UN is providing support (food and logistics) to the Forces Armées de la République Démocratique du Congo (FARDC) to fight such foreign armed groups as the Forces démocratiques de libération du Rwanda (FDLR) and the Lord’s Resistance Army, (LRA). But there is a problem, and it is a really big one. FARDC is the DRC government army which is responsible for more human rights violations than any other entity in that nation.

In fact, FARDC has many well-known human rights violators in its command structure.

It must be reported then that the UN is using taxpayer money of various countries to fund the following process: the UN drops off food; forced labor is used; units receiving food have committed, often repeatedly, rapes and killings - that would be before, and after, eating rations paid, in part, by Joe Sixpack.

The level of complicity is so high that the International Criminal Court, (ICC) has begun an investigation of MONUC for complicity in crimes against humanity. This is all quite serious. A prosecution is not that far fetched. Criminal intent can be constructed as the violations are repeated. MONUC drops food. FARDC uses forced labor to distribute. MONUC knows. MONUC drops again and again.

While fighting the FDLR and LRA is very important, the FARDC is too undisciplined and too unprofessional to succeed. You can’t win the hearts and minds of the population working with the armed groups by committing widespread violations.

The UN Member States in earlier drafts of the SC resolution had included conditioning the support of the UN on respect for its own principles (e.g., human rights law). Now the resolution indicates support for the government and makes it seems like all violations are committed by the FDLR!

What happened? Last week, the DRC government indicated that if the UN SC insisted on conditioning its support on respect for its human rights obligations, the DRC would ask MONUC to leave.

Better to leave and have your principles than to end all significant leverage to reduce violations.

So the UN SC needs a bit of backbone. The question is how the concerned people of this world can help it have grow one.

Disclaimer: It is ok for people to come and engage under my statuses and notes and disagree, for that is the beauty of debate; however, oftentimes I will take some of the exchange and capitalize off of it by making another note addressing someone exclusively for something they’ve written. In this note my good friend Derek will be addressed for his lack of understanding on how black self accountability can be suppressed. It is quite sad that in this day in age you have some Blacks who feel because they have a higher level of consciousness (Derek is an Atheist) that they’re some what better than the rest. They suddenly forget where they come from and forget how the struggle is for everyone else. They have the “I did so can you” mentality, and they look down on all other Blacks who are not as super as themselves and call them victims, yes they’re victims but not victims to their own doings, but rather victims to an unforeseen force that is not controlled by themselves. In addition, my good friends Vicky and Aljorie as well, will slightly be addressed in this post, Vicky is an atheist too. As a Black Atheist myself, I find that many other Black Atheist are extremely quick to assume superiority over other Blacks, because they feel they’re mentally superior, this note will squash that right now. Again, just because a person may feel they’re mentally higher, that does not mean you should ignore the realities that everyone else have to face on a daily basis. It isn’t wise to generalize your own experience and hold that up as the standard upon which all other Blacks should be judged. At the end of the day if you’re Black in America you’re still subject to all of the discriminatory polices that affects Blacks whether, you’re an Atheist or Theist, but that is beside the point, I shall continue:

Derek and Vicky believes that Blacks have a lack of self accountability, now of course they’ve showed no proof for their assumption but let’s take a look at this. The last time I checked there are millions of nonprofit organizations out there doing what needs to be done in Black communities and there are loads of Black households who are producing well rounded Black children. What makes Derek a sad case of human matter, is his outright usage of typical stereotypes against his own kind. Derek, because he think he has “made it” now uses stereotypes to talk down to others whom he labeled victims and imbeciles. Derek is like Michael Steele, one of those Blacks that feel because he has a little credentials he has now arrived—NOT! In America you’re still subject to disparate impact and loads of discriminatory policies that are designed intentionally or unintentionally to hold you back. Derek, Vicky, and Aljorie believes that Blacks should just hop over the hurdles because they had done it and that govt should be ignored in the entire equation, yet they’ve FAILED to realize how govt plays a crucial role in both harboring and implementing polices that affect Blacks negatively. Why should there be hurdles in the first place? Looks like the U.S honor MLK just to preserve an image? Has the work of MLK truly been implemented? What came as a result of the Civil Rights Movement, when we still have record high disparities in place, which are again ignored and neglected by govt itself?

Again, govt will always have a role in discriminative policies, and when people feel as though they’re not being heard. The constitution guarantees us all the pursuit to happiness and freedom, and until that promise is fulfilled FOR ALL, then govt plays a crucial role in seeing fit that everyone is treated properly. Every time Blacks feel the need to demand from govt it is a problem. All other kinds of people can reap the benefits from utilizing govt except Blacks. Blacks are whiners as Derek calls them, they do nothing for themselves and are afraid to take “self accountability”. This is the collective ignorant thought pattern of many Americans when it comes to those who are underprivileged. Furthermore, what makes matters worst is that even some Blacks themselves believe the BS—SAD!! Derek, you may be Superman, or so you think, but everyone who takes self accountability doesn’t always make it buddy. Self accountability means nothing if one is living in a society that has barriers in place for him/her to never make it. Studies are done all the time that proves job discrimination to be prevalent. Why should a man take the time out to go to Harvard but yet come out and still not be able to get a job? Why should a man with a bachelors degree who has three jobs, have to find a fourth job and still not be able to pay for his daughter’s education? There are millions of people on a daily basis taking accountability, but again that effort is met by a force that is stronger than one individual and even a dozen individuals and that force is institutionalized racism and govt. The history of mistreatment upon Blacks in this country cannot be denied and because it once existed here blatantly, you cannot deny the FACT that at any time it can return or still be here. The sixties isn’t a period of time that existed centuries ago, you still have people who lived within those times ALIVE TODAY, and even many of those people will tell you much has not changed. The decades of social science research cannot be denied as well. Derek feel as though he has arrived, arrived to what? Ok you joined an army and defended a country that has never done anything for you? So now you feel as though you owe something to a land that has done nothing but perished the very essence of your being—Stockholm syndrome, I’d say!

These types of coons are what I called the Cancer to those Blacks who do try to make something of themselves but are held back by the system. People such as Derek gives credibility to White Supremacy, because instead of looking at the totality of one’s situation, Vicky, Aljorie, and Derek will judge all Blacks together without ever recognizing the aggravating and mitigating factors that surrounds each person’s unique situation. This is a result of social engineering. Some people are forced due to their circumstances to chose between the lesser of two evils, not every choice a person make may be an option orchestrated by himself. For instance, a poor teen mother needing food for her baby, and as a result going out to shoplift the food, yes she had a choice to allow that baby to starve or to get the baby some food by any means necessary (lesser of two evils). The govt and special interests that profits off of the decapitation of Blacks don’t want people to think CRITICALLY about the conditions in which Blacks find themselves because if they did they just may realize that there is more to it than what you see on the surface. Self accountability can be SUPPRESSED! That is a matter of FACT! There are millions of Black men who come out of jail and want a better life but can’t achieve that due to polices that impact them disproportionately. As a result, they are left to the same devices that got them into trouble in the first place—SAD and very barbaric of this nation to allow that. Critical thinking is a must in order to understand the complexity of this issue. It is so sad that as a self proclaimed Black Atheist even Derek is highly selective in how he chooses to utilize his critical thinking capability if it is even present at all. Most atheists acknowledge only facts, yet it is heavily sad to see that when it comes to these issues here both Vicky and Derek falls short. Aljorie claims to be a believer in a higher being, yet she failed to prove countless times how this higher being has helped Blacks—SAD again!! The worst types of people out there are those like Derek who will use stereotypes to belittle his own kind. Vicky as an Atheist even went as so far to search up manufactured stats on wedlock. Now as an Atheist what are you worrying about wedlock issues for (typical Christian/Republican rhetoric), I thought you were an atheist? I come to realize that there are going to be some Blacks out there who will think they’re better no matter what, and because they THINK they’ve overcame something they feel everyone else can do the same! These types of Blacks REFUSE to recognize the obstacles that still exist, yet they feel as though they’re the mold upon which all Blacks can look to, to base their lives off of—Pls! Derek you’re far from a millionaire, yea you have your little business but it isn’t hitting on shit because it isn’t widely known, and so what you joined the U.S Army, an Army that fights for U.S Corporate interest and not the people, what do you want a little Debbie cake? There is nothing about you that makes you any much more better than the next Black fellow whom is struggling and looking to blame govt for its malpractices and negligence. Govt and capitalism has failed you just like the rest of us buddy, FACE IT!

Blacks are apart of this democracy like everyone else, and because of that we have a right to demand from our govt. We pay taxes and we helped to build this land, hell we built the Whitehouse. But according to Vicky those who complain ain’t doing shit with themselves—PROVE IT! MLK complained about govt would you say the same about him Vicky? Nuff sed!! Just because it is possible for one to jump those hurdles that doesn’t mean the hurdles and the troubles they cost should be ignored. If that were the case MLK, Malcolm and the alike would have stayed shut! Instead they kept speaking up for those who could not overcome the obstacles like they have. Derek, for some reason you seem to think you’re your own island, and with that mentality you won’t last long buddy, reality will be sure to hit you soon! Racism plays a huge part in the “self decapitation” that is prevalent within the Black Community today. Blacks were stripped of their entire essence of being, their culture, their language, etc. For some, not knowing thyself has a huge impact on their lives. Feeling as though you’re exiled in a nation your people had helped to build can be psychologically damaging. Being the science project of White Men and their screwed up theories and studies can also lead to mental strain. Again, just because you SUPPOSEDLY had gotten over those things, that doesn’t mean everyone else can/should. These injustices MUST be spoken about until they’re damint gone! Because until there is TRUE EQUALITY in this land, people are going to ALWAYS have govt and racism to blame after they’ve seen that they put their all into something and still failed to accomplish their goals because of forces that are out of their control. Derek, govt has a duty to make sure everyone is comfortable and heard, this is why we vote in people to represent us in govt, but of course the only people that are comfortably represented in the U.S Congress are Whites, which clearly isn’t a surprise given the history of this nation, but Derek, Vicky and Aljorie will have one to believe that it is what it is and one should run like an Olympic Gold Medalist and hop over the fucking hurdle—HELL NO! That isn’t what the constitution guarantees. Nobody should be forced to ly down and take it up the ass while certain people get to reap the benefits of others being oppressed. Whites have all the status they have today because others had been purposely held down. Imagine if there weren’t any disparities in any area? Imagine the presence Blacks would have, we too are capable of being scientists, doctors, lawyers, etc.. Why should young Black children be forced to only aspire to be entertainers? (Look up Labeling Theory and then observe the media) Racism plays a huge role in every negative thing Blacks have to face in this land, and history shows this. Derek, FACE IT! Don’t be embarrassed of who you are and where you come from. Don’t think you’re better because you have a two cent business and was in the Army, because at the end of the day nobody cares, you’re still a Black man, who is subject to all types of negative policies that are designed to beat you down.. FACE IT!!! At any time that ass can be shot and killed by a big city police officer without any form of justice prevailing. At anytime some form of institutionalized racism can knock on your door and slow down your goals. FACE IT!! Just because you THINK you’re doing it, that doesn’t give you the right to call other Blacks whiners, who the hell are you? What have you accomplished, what makes you stand out so damn good from the rest of us? I am not trying to force you to denote your own accomplishments; however, one should NEVER forget where he came from and never forget the history behind the struggle. Things are not different today; I would say it is more subtle due to changes in morale. But Derek you are in NO POSITION to speak how you’re speaking. Using stereotypical nonsense isn’t the way to describe ALL BLACKS, Derek. Any one whom is SMART would know that. You have a serious case of Stockholm Syndrome but considering the fact that you’ve joined the racist U.S Army I can understand why you now hate your own kind and think you’re better, but see if you are truly all that, then that business of yours would be known world wide and your ranking would be much higher than what it is, all one has to do is reflect upon his/her life to see how racism has affected them, stop living in denial Derek, there is still hope for you. Vicky you said that Black Sisters get on you because you’re lighter etc, c’mon you should be smart enough to know not to develop a disdain for your own kind due to such pettiness. See some Blacks say the things Derek and Vicky say because of bad relations with other Blacks and so it makes them feel good to speak down to other Blacks—Very babyish! Developing a character like that of an Uncle Tom is not cute, Derek, Vicky and Aljorie. One cannot claim to be of higher consciousness and then fall short when it comes to discussing the realities that Blacks have to face in America, that’s some flip flopping shit! This post is designed to address certain issues that Blacks in America have been facing for quite some time now and how those issues pertain to Pres. Obama. Pres. Obama for the most part has done nothing since he has been in office to progress the poor, and the issues that the poor must face on a constant basis everything was about the middle class, main street, what happened to the straight up poor? The citizenry are taught at a very young age that they’re apart of a democracy, yet for quite some time that hasn’t been a reality for all of them. Black males are more likely to be impacted negatively by the Justice System than any other entity within the U.S, yet even with a Black man in the presidency he has YET to overturn the Draconian Drug Laws that even he had noted himself affects Black males disproportionately, his secy of state also said that if she had won she would do something about the fraudulent war on drugs as well. For something that only takes the stroke of a pen we have yet to see it happen—change right?! NOT! Even an uncle tom will throw you a bone!

It is completely understood that Pres. Obama had just got into the presidency and that he still has a lot of time left to do what is necessary, but why should people have to wait! Why should people have to wait for freedom, liberty and respect from one’s government. This “wait” is no stranger to those who had to wait all their lives for even an inkling of hope within the borders of the U.S. The outright blatant deprivation of the Black Male collective humanity is being supported by legislators across the nation and even our president himself so long as he continues to purposely ignore it in hope of being re elected in 2012. This treatment Pres. Obama is giving to Blacks is extremely awkward considering the fact that he has written extensively on the condition of Blacks in this society. Looks like someone has sold out!

There are some who say, give him some time, my response—HELL NO!! How would you like it if you were labeled and at risk on the daily of being arrested because of the fabric of your very existence!! How would you like if you were targeted by legislators to be nothing more than a lab rat for their tests and enjoyment? How would you like if at any time you can walk into a major city and be maliciously gunned down by a cop and see NO JUSTICE? How would you like if you can be pulled from your household for no true reason to come out and find your children in disarray or in lockdown? How would you feel if you were as educated as they come but still are looked down upon as in being nothing more than peasant whom is locked out of the job market? How would you like it if you were apart of a democracy but never had a voice in that democracy since the day your ancestors stepped foot onto this land? It doesn’t matter if Pres. Obama got into the office two seconds ago; there are some things this man can do that will only take the stroke of a pen. Fed drug laws are amongst the harshest he can readily fix those, and he has enough pull to throw ideas out to the state govts, yet he is failing to do so. Even an uncle tom will throw you a bone, but if your interest truly isn’t with those whom are suffering then nothing will be solved. Phony fraudulent progressive leaders are not what is needed for the change AMERICA NEEDS NOW!!! Furthering a war under the guise of protecting our national security is also conflicting, for it solves nothing domestically and only furthers the capitalist interest of the west. It is a damn shame that when Obama was asked about reparations during the primaries he dodged the question. It took Kucinich, a white man, to say he would be for reparations instead of the scary black man whom is only looking forward to being a puppet to the corporations. Again, Even an uncle tom will throw you a bone!

There are major issues that the U.S has going on domestically and it will take a TRUE STRONG PROGRESSIVE candidate to fix these problems not someone who is afraid of his opposition and too damn cowardly to stand the fuck up do what he knows is right. Looks like someone will be a 1 termer because if something isn’t done about the REAL ISSUES that people face in America there will be extreme consequences for him and his party. The Right will take on a grassroots method that will succeed based off of the fact that Pres. Obama has done NOTHING to help those who are in need. You can’t really say healthcare is going to do it because if he was truly progressive about that, he would have drafted his own bill, instead of allowing congress to do it KNOWING that they will delay it at all cost! At this moment people are in extreme need of help and will go either way, Obama and his team of nuts had better get it together, because it will be like taking candy from a baby if the Right truly wishes to get up and running again to take back the White house.

If Pres. Obama’s heart is in the right place but he cannot do much because of his ties then he should have thought about that BEFORE he took their money and promised them their favors—I don’t care! People’s liberty are being taken away from them, children are growing up without fathers, juveniles are starting criminal careers younger and younger nowadays due to social strain, the school system is garbage, racial disparities are at all time highs and even worst due to their modern subtle nature! Yet Obama dare to say that this is a post racial America. GTFOFH! I don’t care! I don’t care! Fuck a war in Afghanistan, who cares about Iraq, and let Israel handle their issues by themselves. Whatever happened to the AMERICAN PEOPLE, or better yet Inner City folk? I forgot they don’t exist nor do they matter! The poor is a forgotten group of human beings in America. Their livelihood isn’t even represented in congress, and capitalism although it has failed about 90% of all Americans it has failed the poor the most!! Unless you’re extremely wealthy then capitalism hasn’t done much for you. My hope on Pres. Obama has not run out completely, but again, even an uncle tom will throw you a bone, but what the hell is Barack Obama?!

This post comes with electrifying emotion behind the words in which I write. The notion of capitalism and what it means to me will be established here within this post. After showing my support to a more socialistic society a great man by the name of Tom Martin on facebook told me that a Utopia will never come into existence. My response to him was simple, nobody here is requesting a utopia; we only request that everyone’s humanity and dignity be respected. We request that everyone be treated fairly no matter what their perspective backgrounds should be. We ask that people be paid a fair livable wage upon completing labor for an employer. We also ask that everyone be entitled to healthcare and the pursuit of happiness. Nobody should be allowed to hog up “property” on a planet that was not made by themselves. In addition, corporate monopolies that ultimately end up taking over democracies should be expunged and vigorously prosecuted for their criminal activity.

Institutionalized racism exists as a result of a history of free labor that can no longer be practiced in the contemporary. Many believe that the freeing of slaves in America instituted the hatred that is reflected in the U.S today. Capitalism breeds hatred and enforces social/economic disparities. Capitalism simply isn’t a friend to the integration of races.

Where I come from Capitalism turns good loving parents into drug/alcohol abusers. It turns would be honor students into savages and murderers. It turns potentially good fathers into dead beats without a hope to spare. It turns elderly couples into moms and dads again even though they have already raised their children. It turns good communities into underground societies filled with nightmarish activities without a hope in sight and only hell to expect. It robs the poor blind while blaming the poor for their own victimization.

Capitalism justifies man made social ills while never finding solutions to actually fixing human suffering. Capitalism is virus worst than that of HIV, and instead of leading to AIDS it leads to a QUICK INEVTIABLE DEATH! It pillages, it rapes, it genocides, and it is phony. It suffocates the meaning of life itself, while leading us all into artificial living. It forces one to sell his labor instead of embracing his talents. It victimizes billions of innocent people and run stampedes on third world nations that it had created. It believes in shooting up full college campuses that are in disagreement with it. It is supported by evil monopolizing thieves whom are greedy beyond human comprehension. Capitalism believes it is ok to allow someone to die, than to give them a helping hand that leads to longevity of life.

It bottles water from the earth and sell it at a price. It takes ownership to anything so long as it is supported by law, govt’s, and corporations. It will murder, slaughter, and genocide in the name of its imperialistic objectives. It is the creator of both the prison industrialization and military industrialization complexes. It sustains itself via lies pushed out by mainstream media and by some elite economists.

To borrow from Elizabeth Barrett Browning:
I hate thee to the depth and breadth and height!
I hate thee with a hate that seems to grow.
I hate thee with a passion put to use.
I hate thee with a hate not yet known to man!

Capitalism has complete disregard to human existence period. There is only one good thing that capitalism factually ensures, and that is the death of itself!!

GUN RIGHTS AND THE INNER CITY

I recently had posted a status to my facebook, condemning America for its neglect to fix the gun problem within its inner cities. As a result, I had received countless amounts of feedback from various contributors on facebook, all interesting. However, my intake on this matter is slightly different than some of the posts that were applied. Having a background in criminology and law affords me to have a unique perspective on this matter and thus I will display it within this essay here.

When it comes to the second amendment, nobody as of yet can be exactly sure as to the intent that the founding fathers originally had behind its writing. We do know that times do change, and many liberals argue that our constitution within itself needs to be brought up to modern day times in order to coexist and apply to current day issues logically. I also agree with that. However, there are many entities out there that profit off of the consumption of guns, and then there are those white southerners who have always had a fascination with guns dating all the way back to slavery.

The question becomes this, whether nor not these white southerners are holding on to the gun issue as their last resort to kill off minorities whom they wish was not here. Or is there a conspiracy that wants to see inner city people kill each other off, hey at least this way nobody else can be blamed but the poor inner city people themselves. The latter represents the majority of opinion on this matter. Some people believe that the taking away of guns cannot solve the violence issue in the inner city, yet almost all the time they fail to realize how guns contributes a great deal of pain to inner city residents. These types of people will defend guns to the death just because they think the second amendment protects their right to use one. The second amendment does not have the word gun embedded therein. A butter knife under the interpretation of the second amendment can be sufficient enough for the right to bear arms; again nowhere in there do we see the word gun.

The fact remains that there is a major gun problem in the inner cities, and this problem is being neglected, while the blame is being pushed onto the people who inhabit such areas. Clearly, the people are powerless and without political and economic power, how can someone even attempt to push blame on a people who are purposely put in such a position of powerlessness—unbelievable!! Then to add insult to injury these types will even attempt to blame the children for being caught up in their own social disorganization, again something that has been inflicted upon them to no fault of their own. Robert Merton a well known criminologist believed in a term he coined, “Strain Theory”. In general this theory basically means that people who are forced into the slums will do basically anything they can, in order to fit into dominant society. This need to fit in will oftentimes come with extremely violent acts, but this is due to their disorganization, inability to unite, lack of political and economic power, and thus the complete abandonment by dominant society. As a result of that which I’ve just stated, people in the inner city develop STRAIN. They begin to survive through means that dominant society began to criminalize, due to the fact that dominant society does not wish to see these people succeed and become productive. For instance, most drug dealers do not wish to be out on the streets selling drugs, however, due to strain of not being provided a proper education, due to already having been locked up and now attached to a record, there is a strain that develops that leads them to survive however way they can. Therefore, due to not being able to gain a livable wage, they then develop their own jobs, and selling drugs is one of many options available to them. After awhile the selling of drugs may become competitive and that’s when gun violence becomes a viable option for them to take out their competition. But leave it to some and they’ll tell you that that is illogical, yea ok! As I have always professed nobody before they’re born asks to be placed into poverty and subhuman conditions, where they’re neglected—so much for democracy eh? Now with that being said how can we dare attempt to blame these people for their conditions? Yes there is definitely a lack of accountability by the inner city itself, but how can we blame them without first critiquing overall society and our government?

No law or constitution in the world is more important than the need to save human life. These same folks who seem to be for gun rights are the same ones to deny abortion rights under the premise of saving life, yet when it comes to the worsening inner city condition as a result of guns they have complete disregard to it. How could people be so selfish and blatantly prejudice, it is as though the conspiracy option is factual. There is a want by dominant society perhaps, to allow these poor inner city people to kill each other off, dominant society takes advantage of their strain and sit by while these innocent people continue to destroy themselves into oblivion. It doesn’t matter where the root comes from as some have stated under my status, the FACT still remains that guns are aiding and abetting in the decapitation of youth within the inner cities, what is the solution to that? There are other acts of violent that may be tolerable and fixable but the use of a gun to commit murder cannot be fixed—the person is gone forever! The fixing has to start somewhere, don’t you agree?

Debating second amendment intention is frivolous to this matter because the death rates are increasing as a result. The times have changed it isn’t 1787 anymore, we live in an entire new world, with different dangers, and if we do not bring ourselves up to contemporary thinking with our law, our society will parish itself. I once asked one of my White liberal Jewish professors what did he think about this matter, and he replied, “White people just want to see blacks kill themselves, and the second amendment was made for militias which each state already has” I am starting to believe his first statement in his answer. Is it because the majority of these victims are Black? What is the hold up? Again guns are not exclusively written in the second amendment, which alone leaves it open to extreme interpretation. Why do we live in a dangerous society in the first place? Why is it that dominant society is so damn afraid of poor people, what threat if any at all do they bring to the dominant folk? I just don’t get it. But people would rather debate the merits of the second amendment and the so called roots of violence before saving lives. As I have stated above, we understand violence is going to exist; however, I would much rather have a violence that is void of death than a violence that executes on a daily basis, and because of that this issue must be discussed. The root of this “anti social” behavior goes deeper than just broken homes and lack of parenting, the root of this goes back to the freeing of slaves, it goes back to the BLACK CODES, and the outright hatred for those living in the inner cities. It goes back to the FEAR of vengeance that may ly within the descendents of those who were murdered, massacred, exploited, and rapped, for the color of their skin. There is a powerful essence within the oppressed that even the oppressed knows not about. This disdain by overall dominant society is a disdain that has been passed down through the generations, and until this disdain is acknowledged by people of all colors this hate will continue to live on. FEAR of our fellow human beings should not have to exist. But even in context of U.S history, who has been in fear since their very arrival here? Who lives with strain on a daily basis? But because these poor people aren’t worth a damn to this country, the necessity for the gun problem to be addressed will never surface. Who gives a damn about the second amendment, KIDS are DYING! How could such hatred descend onto CHILDREN? It takes a hateful, bloodthirsty, petty, unjust, control-freak, racist, crazy, malevolent, genocidal, vindictive, DEVIL to wish harm onto innocent fellow human beings.

BLAME BIG GOVERNMENT

I find that with many conservatives, they tend to like the blaming of government for all of the wrongdoings that happen to the “free market”. They fail to realize that the government is run by actual humans and that it is those humans who dictate the actions of government. I found myself tonight arguing with a person on the right about Organized Crime, and he spoke on how it was government’s fault behind the orchestration of defiance during prohibition. HOWEVER, as usual, he failed to identify the actors within government that brought about this so called defiance.

People on the right always seem to have terrible memory recollection when it comes to identifying those who made policies that always seem to have blowback attached. For instance, this person I speak of brought up prohibition, and he went on to say how that created organized crime, and then he compared it to the war on drugs today. My response to him of course was well what party can be identified with having made such laws that ultimately allowed this to happen? His answer as I expected was simply, government. Once again I found myself having to school yet another person on the right, on simple elementary legislative duty. It takes a person from within congress to bring about a bill that is then voted on. The implications therein usually sides with that person’s values and belief system. This is precisely why you have different parties that tend to represent different ideologies. After explaining that to the nut, he still failed to comprehend where I was coming from, although I believed he did and was just stuck in a catch 22.

I then began to explain to him the progressive movement back in the later days of the 1880s and how the progressives who back then were also republicans failed miserably at their plan. One thing that is sure is the fact that they were extremely organized. However, when it came to implementing policy that would actually go to serve the betterment of society, they instead manipulated policy to serve their belief system and not all. As a result, loads of people that were originally for their collective ideology began to run away, which was at a direct result of prohibition itself. Republicans believed that alcohol was the root of all evil and that the bible strongly urged against it. The lesson learned from this is simple; do not force your way of living or your ideology onto others, in a democratic society. Most progressives were ok with getting rid of vice, prostitution, gambling, police corruption, etc; however when it came to alcohol they just weren’t for it. But since the progressives were uppity middle classed “Native Americans” who felt their way should be the way for all, they simply ignored the outcry against it, and enforced the law as they wrote it onto the masses of those who blatantly disagreed. Prohibition even became apart of the constitution, which made it the land of the land. Consequentially, organized crime became a way of life and a big cash in. In addition, crime became rampant and the street wars, gangs, and mafias began to proliferate throughout the country.

Therefore, when those on the right complain about organized crime and how government started it. I must beg to ask the question, what party was more for the law that criminalized and what political or personal ideology was it based upon? These questions are essential to not only understanding why we have blowback with certain laws (war on drugs, today) but also they’re essential to understanding how democracy can easily be turned into a dictatorship. Besides the war on drugs, which many liberals are ready to decriminalized, another modern day example of this behavior is gay marriage. What is the logic behind hindering homosexuals from marrying? The bible as an explanation simply isn’t sufficient enough, something more rational must be presented. The rhetoric on it being a historical union between a man and a woman is also ancient, for times have changed; now we have homosexuals outright wanting to marry. Also, one can argue that the notion of “marriage” existed long before the benefits of marriage came about. Were people not in love before the word “marriage” came into existence? Those on the right act as though homosexuality is a new phenomenon, when it simply isn’t. Homosexual acts can be seen on pictures dating back way before the 1700s even. Again, there is no logic for hindering these people from marrying. The war on drugs is another problem; people have been getting high for centuries. For instance, marijuana has yet to be recorded for having the potential of causing death, yet it is still illegal. Most policies that cause major blowback are almost all the time presented and heavily supported by those on the right. Yet when it comes to Organized Crime they dare to say, it was big government, well that is a load of kangaroo crap.

ACCOUNTABILITY V. POINTING OUT INJUSTICES

Within the Black community there is always a great debate on whether we’re taking accountability or not. This type of idea is usually birthed from those who are more conservative in nature than liberal. This school of thought suggests that Blacks should stop complaining and instead do something about the troubles that they face. In full, it basically represents the bootstrap methodology. However, with this form of thinking comes great criticism. I say this because although Blacks can take accountability for their problems, which are not all the time inflicted by themselves the fact still remains that if an unjust system is still able coexist while they take that accountability then it defeats the purpose. For instance, let us reflect on Black Wall Street, Rosewood, the 80s when crack had hit, and there are many more examples. It seems to me that whenever Blacks do try to take accountability there is always another mechanism that falls into place that knocks down what little effort that has been brought forth. Therefore, is it logical to say that Blacks should stop pointing out injustices? I partially agree with accountability, but at the same time I do feel that pointing out the injustices outweighs the taking of accountability. It is imperative that the injustices in this society be laid out for all to see and analyze, for if they don’t they will continue to exist with complete impunity.

I say that simply because again, if Blacks take accountability but yet this system develops new ways to combat that accountability to ensure that Blacks are still kept down, then what do we do from there? Even with drug treatment facilities and forms of community corrections, the drug problem is not being fixed. The people at the top of the drug trade seem to have complete impunity while young Black males are locked up like clockwork, where is the justice in that? We can demand for our young males to stop facilitating in the drug trade; however if the law isn’t willing to fix itself so that things are fair and just for all then what is the purpose of demanding them to stop? If there aren’t any jobs available or avenues of change available for these males, while we demand for them to stop associating with illegal activity, then how do we expect them to transition into normal productive behavior? Therefore, to me it is illogical to say that Blacks should take more accountability than pointing out the injustices. Another good example is the loads of non profit orgs that are out there working strenuously day to day, to fix problems in the inner cities. Oftentimes they fall short on budget, and because they’re doing a great good, their funding is cut by the funder. It is widely known that the gov’t will cut funding to working non profits in a heart beat, before they allow these orgs to actually do their jobs fully. In addition, it is extremely hard for non profit orgs with great intentions to obtain funding, due to the already established non profit orgs that has the proper networking to get the funding over everyone else. Failure of gov’t and private donors to regulate such funding is also an attribute to the failed attempts at proving funding to non profits to do good work. As a result of bad regulation on the behalf of gov’t and private funders, most non profit orgs that are obtaining the funds are basically doing as they please with the money, instead of doing what they had written in their grant proposals. So the mere fact that some non profit orgs exists that wish to do well, goes to show that there is a great deal of accountability taking place. This myth that Blacks aren’t doing anything to fix the issues is nothing more than saying that Blacks enjoy the position in which they find themselves, which in my opinion is completely ludicrous. There is a difference between accountability that is truly working and accountability that is in battle.

Most may be torn on this topic but no matter your ethnicity I would like to hear what others out there have to say on this complex issue, because more seem to be either confused or fully for one or the other. I just don’t understand how some cannot see how this system is much more powerful than Blacks simply congregating and fixing their problems. I believe that it will take for this system to change FIRST, in order for TRUE accountability and change to take place. What says you?

SOCIAL ENGINEERING!

I read an electrifying note on facebook by Mr Will Capers and I must give thanks to him for inspiring me to write this note as an extension to his post. The essence of Mr Capers’ post basically spoke about the existence of racism and its historical roots and how it is blatantly denied by most whites. I shall label the essence of that message as Social Engineering. I believe that although most white people are aware of these disparities, they’re oftentimes so overwhelmed with their own lives’ and their own lavish life styles that for them to acknowledge these wrongdoings would be seen as perceived attack on their very existence. Some would even say, “Hey can’t blame them” BUT if we’re a country that truly believes in freedom and justice for all then such issues must be acknowledged in their entirety. However, one blockade exists that prevents us from doing so—social engineering.

Social engineering as defined by myself is the following: The act of maintaining social control and classism through various conditioning tools such as, radio, tv/film, education, legislature, the criminal justice system, and medicine. All of the mentioned tools can be manipulated into forming a picture of whoever is supposed to be either accelerated or decelerated in a given society. If we reflect on our American society today, we can all understand how all of those tools are used to paint a negative picture of Black people. Therefore, the blame of such disparities and discrimination existing is to be put on those who control those various tools. All of those tools have immense influence on society, because they are supposed to represent our information source, and all that which is to be considered balanced and objective, yet if any of those tools are exploited in a negative way, the impact can be profoundly negative. The Black struggle has historical roots, and sadly, if we were to go back to slavery even then, we can see to a large extent how such tools were used to decapitate Blacks and hold them down. If we reflect to modern day times, it will be clear to see that these tools have gone through an evolutionary change to fit the modern day morale; however the same intentions and impact is still present today.

Therefore, if whites are still the only group of people still succeeding disproportionately to the rest of us within this society then it is fair to say that perhaps they’re the controllers of each tool stated above, and thus if they’re going to keep their superiority over everyone else it is paramount that they maintain the control of such tools. This is precisely why Black talk radio is almost unheard of by the dominant mainstream society; also let’s not forget how Black talk radio at one time needed a bail out in order to continue to exist. In addition, one can even say this is why BET is no longer a valuable connection to Blacks because Blacks no longer own it, and they do not participate in the triarchy that control that network. Moreover, we have yet to see any major Black leading film company. Most people who actually have major shows within the News Media (fox, cnn, msnbc, etc) are white, you can just about count the Black hosts on one hand, and even if they wanted to be real about their perspective it just may cost them their show slot, and thus their entire careers’.

Something just isn’t quite right about this and my friend Mr Capers is indeed correct, until such nonsense is actually acknowledged the problems of the past will remain present today and in our future. As I have always professed, the disparities don’t make themselves up. They exist because the wrongdoing is indeed REAL! And when such wrongdoings had existed in the past as a way of life then it should be no surprise that they would still exist today. Before people comment on this post let us all once again scroll up to take a look at the tools; and ponder heavily on how they can be used to control a society, either for good or for bad. Although we can demand more self accountability and independent thought from our members of society, the fact still remains that throughout history people have always relied on a news source of some sort to give them “accurate information”, and sadly some within our society probably aren’t smart enough to conduct research and analysis on their own (due to the dumbing down) so it is much easier to trust the media. I guess the overall question is why do we have such a large white population and even the minority of minorities who actually believe that things are much fairer now, and that racism isn’t a key factor any longer in the racial ills of this society? Do these people actually believe that disparities are fraudulent numbers made up by liberals, if so I find it funny that every time they try to attack Blacks they always seem to use such numbers as ammo to prove in a pseudo manner that they’re indeed better, when that simply isn’t the truth. I do not believe we need stats in order to show human suffering, because human suffering should be evident. People who represent humanity and kindness to all should not be forced to PROVE themselves through a means of academic innovation when suffering is synonymous to us all. The fact of the matter is such persons are just simply afraid to acknowledge these issues because if they did their way of life would be threatened immensely, and the words socialism, communism and Marxism will be said as a way of fighting their way out of having to realize the actualities of racism and classism. If these fools only knew or were real about how they’ve gotten what they have! What says you?

IN DENIAL OF CAPITALISM

Most Americans when asked about Capitalism will oftentimes feel the need to defend it even though the effects of such a system can be fatal. I was arguing earlier with a friend about the Corporations who are ruining the African people and their land; and although he had agreed with their activities being wrongful, he still felt a pressing need to denounce socialism as the solution (not that socialism is the solution). He said it was the various African govt’s fault for these Corporations existing in Africa to pillage the natives and their land, thus totally failing to recognize the extreme corruption those states have in Africa. He believed for the most part that capitalism had no play in the dysfunctional state Africa finds itself, and thus their condition is due to their own neglect. He said socialism will make the conditions worst because people will be at the same level, while those who are more talented will be forced to settle for less.

I find it extremely sad how these same folks never seem to know anything about the dozens upon dozens of case law that are out there for the world to see. They almost never seem to have a basic amateur concept of what human rights are or even a basic definition of morality. It is as though such people are nothing more than uninformed soldiers for capitalism. Better yet they’re consensual slaves to the capitalistic structure. I find it extremely depressing how these types of people will stand in total denial against the obvious. Capitalism will almost all the time create caste, economic injustices, complex social injustices, influx of crime, Organized Crime, and much more! It has the ability to turn good people into animals; this is precisely why the genocides are happening in Africa. It all has to do with Western influences who are trying to pillage Africa for all it has to offer. Why can’t people understand the obvious even when the proof is in the pudding?

WHOSE JUDGEMENT DO WE FOLLOW?

With the world as it is today, one must wonder at times if there are people out there whoever wonders about the judgment that guides society. Everyone is programmed to an extent to obey certain rules and to live their lives a certain way, but do anyone ever wonder why. Whose judgment do we follow? Who are we bowing down to? Is it fair for us to be coerced into this way of life without first being able to agree or disagree? Are we even a participating factor in this ruling structure? Did the founding fathers really have everyone’s welfare in mind while orchestrating the constitution? If everyone were created equal, then why did some of them own slaves? If they slipped with the owning of slaves and allowing indentured servitude to exist, should we be surprised of our condition today? Hell, anything can be expected if they were willing and able to do the opposite back then. Is that not contradictory? Can we say nothing is what it seems? Is it easier to blend in or to be an independent person? Why do we feel compelled to not rebel? Whose judgment do we follow and why? I mean can we even attempt to answer such a question?

POINTING THE FINGER & THE RACE CARD!!

Oftentimes when it comes to race relations or problems surrounding race, we hear people on the right emotionally saying, “Stop pointing the finger” Or “Stop using the race card” to lower leveled persons. I think such statements are nothing more than distractions from actually looking at the equation and solving the problem. For example, these are the same type of folk who are always so quick to resort to stats with falsified methodologies to knock down minorities, especially when it comes Blacks, yet in the same breathe they’re quick to say “Stop pointing the finger” or “Stop using the race card” I just don’t get it people, seems like an oxymoron doesn’t it?

Why is it so hard for these types of idiots to understand the many psychosociological factors surrounding those on the lower levels? In addition, most on the lower level aren’t even apart of the democratic experience. They’re not represented in congress proportionate to their population, the demographics in the U.S Congress as it exists now is more white oriented than any other race, is that true democracy in the land of the free, or is that the maintaining of a white ruling body? Most people on the lower levels fail to realize that power comes in economic and political pull, it doesn’t reside in fame, basketball, entertainment, etc. However, due to labeling theory and social bond theory most on the lower levels are only focused on illegitimate means for gaining such power.

The question becomes: If there is barely any representation of Blacks in gov’t (within all branches) then is it surprising that Black needs are not being met? Blacks can rely on democrats all they want; however, at the end of the day democrats really aren’t any better than republicans—both fraudulent to a degree! Therefore, if we have established that Blacks are underrepresented in almost all branches of gov’t and yet we have these huge disparities in criminal justice, healthcare, housing, etc, then when Blacks complain about their experiences, why are they told to “stop pointing the finger” or “stop playing the race card”? Is this a serious case of denial on the behalf of the right, or is the right the actual persons playing the race card or pointing the finger? Clearly the evidence is blatant for all to see, yet for some reason these issues are almost all the time covered up or denied. Even President Obama refuses to touch on Black issues for some weird reason even though his book “Dreams from my Father” expressed these issues in great detail.

How could society be so unintelligent or dishonest to not acknowledge the needs and existence of others within this democratic experiment? It is as though those on the lower levels are just “crumb snatchers” they need no representation or acknowledgement. This society doesn’t believe in investigating disparities for the sake of humanity, and to make things more equal for the underprivileged. It seems as though the privilege is indeed the ones playing the race card by preserving all economical and political wealth to themselves. They set up a fraudulent two party system to play make believe democracy, when beneath the surface their only mission is preserve themselves, while everyone else fail and are told that it is their own fault. Yes there have been great steps towards improvement; however, equal access without equal results cancels out any good intent. Failure to regulate good policy will always resort in the abandonment of well intentioned policy that could have possibly worked.

I just cannot seem to grasp onto the logic of Blacks being told to “stop pointing the finger” or “playing the race card” when the disparities clearly mimic their experiences and complaints. Can anyone make any sense of this?

PATRIOTISM OVER HUMANITY

Many people take the American Flag very seriously, and I understand the implications behind them doing so. For example, some people have fought wars, some have lost loved ones as a result of war, and some are lucky enough to be recipients of privilege here in America, and thus by pledging to the flag they’re simply giving thanks.

But the overall question here is the following: When did we begin to lose hope in humanity to the point where we now invest all hope and morality in an innate object called a flag? Is it that flag that saves us from crumbling down or is it people? Call me ungrateful, arrogant, etc, but I honestly and genuinely don’t get how people can be so heart felt over a flag and then expect others to respect it as much as they do. I love America and I would not want to live anywhere else; however, I am not known for biting my tongue, and the fact is there are some people in America who can genuinely attest to that flag meaning nothing to them.

Who actually benefits from the opportunities here in America? I surely do not think the disparities make themselves up. I remember when the GOP made a big deal out of Michelle Obama when she said, “For the first time in her adult life she is proud of her country”. According to the GOP that was a statement of hatred for ones own country, YET none of them have walked her path or lived her life. For one she’s a Black American and then to add insult to injury she’s a Female! Therefore, clearly she has a story to tell whereby we may have to expect to hear some hardships or barriers she had to get over in order to be where she is today. I don’t understand how we can all be expected to have the same level of respect for this country when there are some who are purposely left out of the equation of equality and the pursuit of happiness, whether it be intentional or not. However, at the end of the day it is what it is, wouldn’t you agree?

It has gotten to the point where we now believe with all of our hearts’ that it is necessary to go out and murder in the name of that flag. Our flag must be the best flag no matter what. Anyone who disrespects it should be subject to death or something damn well close to it. Where does this pseudo form of hope in a flag derive from? Moreover, due to the supremeness of thy flag, many of us know that people can get away with committing War Crimes because it isn’t politically correct to question the actions of “patriots”. Therefore, in many cases the flag is even above the law! WTF!?

I say it is time to invest back into humanity and stop getting caught up with innate objects that stands for something totally different than what it claims to stand for. Allow everyone their right to human dignity and survival, and let’s stop creating thresholds of failure on purpose because certain persons want to remain on top and not share the economic and political power here in America. I mean really people are we serious, a damn FLAG?! I’ll even take it a step further and make this post really controversial by asking the following: Do our soldiers fight for the people within this country or do they fight for Corporations?

THE COST AND NEED FOR FAME AND FORTUNE

Why is that people in our society are so head bent on achieving some form of fortune and fame? The reason why I am speaking on this is because of the recent news report on “The Balloon Boy”. Clearly, during the interview with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, the child whose name is Falcon had admitted to the cameras that his dad told him it was all an act for “the show”. Therefore, the child was under the impression that he was acting out for a show. I can only imagine the psychological hurt that little boy must be going through right now, but the overall question is WHY?! What loving parent would push such pain and confusion onto their offspring? The mother during the interview seemed genuinely depressed and unaware of the alleged fact that her son missing was an act for a “show”.

What is it about our society that forces people to thrive on fortune and fame? Are people no longer content with what they already have? Is having much more the new cool. Even if we resort to religious text almost all of them are AGAINST GREED, so why do most who believe break that religious law on the daily? Are we no longer in control of our mental process, or are we under control some form of corporate subliminal waves that seeks to control us. Some will say this is the remnants of capitalism, others may say it is just outright plain stupid and selfishness.

Why do people want it all fast nowadays? The sad thing is, even when most get it, they still remain miserable and without from the inside. A person can have it all on the outside and yet still remain dangerously empty from within; there are countless celebs to prove that point. Why is it that we as one of the smartest species alive are so easily expunged from our natural ability to rationalize? What says you?

AN OPEN LETTER TO JOHN A McCOY! THE BOOTSTRAP COMMENTATOR!

This is an open letter to John who participated in my posting on facebook labeled, “Capitalistic Slaves” John exhibited some things in his commentary that really struck me the wrong way, and thus as a result I felt the need to acknowledge him in his entirety in a note designed just for him. John claims to be from the projects within NYC with a couple of sibs, his mom and pop, etc. John clearly has made something of himself and now seeks to look down on other Blacks who weren’t as fortunate as himself. Now let me read his cards if I may!

John fails to realize that although this country claims to give equal access to all, there still aren’t any equal results. Unless racism and disparate treatment is seen as a bad thing by overall society, these types of treatments will only go through a evolutionary change. What I mean by that is, such wrongdoings must match up with the society in which they reside. For instance, it is no longer politically correct to have Jim Crow present in modern day society; therefore, such treatment must be rebirthed under stealth—institutionalized racism? These types of behavioral actions can be seen with the freeing of slaves, which was followed by the BLACK CODES, which was followed by Jim Crow! Those bodies of laws were oppositional forces to more just and equal laws that tried to stop poor treatment towards Blacks. Yet John would want us to believe that despite all of the historical and sociological evidence that are out there, Blacks should simply IGNORE THEM and pull themselves up by the boot straps, thus he promotes the fraudulent phrase “The American Dream”

John is the type that believes, since he has gone to school or done something with himself he is better than the rest. Let me attempt to educate you John:

1. You’re still a Black Man, with one of the lowest social status in America, by design of course. But studies show that it doesn’t matter how high you’re in success you can still be impacted by unfairness. I.E Gates, or the treatment Barack receives on the daily!
2. You’re still subject to disparate treatment by the institutions herein America.
3. Just because you’ve mastered Eurocentricity that doesn’t mean this is something that was made for you, because it wasn’t! It was for White Male superiority not even White Woman.
4. Your institutionalized education is only valid so long as this system is honored. If a revolution of some sort were to take place your entire way of being would be obliterated.
5. The boot strap argument is played out with wind breaker suits because everyone knows that poor people are purposely held down in capitalistic societies because they’re seen as the peasantry or better yet slaves.

John went on to rant about how Blacks are their own worst enemies. He said it had historical roots, and thus pointed back to Slavery. He said that we enslaved each other back in Africa and so therefore, our issues did not start in the cotton fields. Ok I beg to differ immensely, because there is no historical evidence that shows Africans treating each other like the Europeans treated Africans once they were forcefully brought to the Americas! That is a form of pseudo history John was speaking from. In fact, Africans at best had their own system of indentured servitude, which was tied into their way of carrying out justice. Africans did not believe in treating each other like subhuman creatures of some lower form of existence! It was when they reached the Americans where it is noted that their right to human dignity and pride was snatched, and thus they were demoted to PROPERTY, which of course is a huge difference when compared to indentured servitude!

John fails to realize that everyone cannot be like he. Everyone cannot fight through an unjust system and make it to their goals; though I too come from the same settings as John, unlike he I will never forget where I come from. John clearly has lost his connection from which he came! He looks down on people for not having the support system he may have had. He hates them for not being able to be on his level so collective ego can shine brighter. He dislikes the fact of being a Black man in America where it is a rarity to overcome the systematic placement of obstacles to obtain success. He identifies with the fact that Black men are seen as a collective in our society but he hates it with a passion, if it were up to him he would be in his own social class, but he CANT because it isn’t that easy, he just cannot up and change his skin color! He states that minorities can do better, yet fail to mention that every time they do congregate to make a different way, somehow they’re legally pushed back ten steps. He probably doesn’t know about Black Wall Street, Rosewood, or the current Gentrification that is going on right now. The bottom line is, this society can be doing MUCH MORE to liberate the poor or underprivileged from the conditions that they face.

He is a soldier for an economic system that was built off of the backs of his own people. Instead, he tells them to suck it up and keep it moving. He has total disregard to the psychosociological factors that are involved, because he hates being who he is! He is a man that would rather stand behind myths, false rhetoric and propaganda than to look at things for what they are. He is a sorry ass excuse for a man or better yet a human being. What I find funny more than anything else, are those Americans who truly feel as though they’re superior to other human beings from other nation states. Why is it that we have some people in our population that truly feel or at least think for some reason that America is the model land for democracy and all that which is equal, fair and perfect? I honestly digress in extreme measures, because everywhere I look I seem to see disparities and negativity. Our govt is far from perfect, not saying that it should be because I don’t think any govt will ever be perfect, but to frown upon N Korea or Iran when our own tail stinks, in my opinion makes one an uninformed hypocrite.

I bring this up because earlier I was in a slight debate with a friend of mine whom I consider a crusader for capitalism. He asked the question of a lifetime, “Would you have defended Stalin back in the 30s?” At first I thought he was joking, but since he thinks that I am a Socialist, Marxist, Communist, (you know they usually throw all of those at you with total disregard to their meanings) however, I typed back NO I would not have defended him. But of course he kept throwing things at me rapidly, trying to get me to “admit” that I would be down with Stalin if I were alive back then.

Then I asked him, “Why do your type always believe that America has no flaws?” He replied, “Because our flaws aren’t as large as other countries” Now that is the problem my friends! A flaw is a flaw a violation of human rights is just that, a violation of human rights! It doesn’t matter of its fashion because at the end of the day collectively those flaws initiate harm. My friend went on to say how there are people in N Korea that are in poverty and starvation. So as a result, I pointed out to him the many people in Appalachia, rural areas, and the inner cities here in America who are in those same type of conditions. Immediately he said, “Well those in America are still living better!” Though that tasteless response did not surprise me, I still had to stop and wonder how someone could be so heartless? He actually had the nerve to justify suffering in America by comparing American suffering to foreign suffering and outing one as in being better than the other. Whatever happened to compassion and collective well-being? The suffering in foreign countries to a large extent is no different than that found here in the U.S. For example, if you were to compare slavery of Blacks in the U.S to the Black condition today, clearly it will be easy to determine that although much has changed systematically, the actual sociological and psychological harm remains alive for the majority of Blacks. Just because a system or govt claims to have changed, that does not mean things are more equal, because equal access without equal results is an oxymoron—not much has changed! Though we have some Blacks in high places, the masses of them surely aren’t getting there, BUT that’s a whole post within itself!

I guess the question I am trying to ask here my friends is: Why do certain Americans feel the need to hide our flaws in an insane joyful attempt to appear superior? Perhaps there are some who live in poverty in third world nations and are happy because there isn’t a need to consume and feel better than the rest. What if the things we hear about these “inferior” nations have been rigged to appear that way, when in reality they’re some of the best places to live on earth? Why do people feel the need to judge without having lived a certain life or walked a certain path? What is it about this American arrogance that seems to be paralyzing rational thought and the need for human rights/dignity to exist? Sadly, this sort of arrogance is even having a devastating impact on Americans themselves; yes poor people living here are Americans too. As a result, those who are living in such conditions are ignored or told to pull themselves up by the boot straps. They’re made to feel inferior by choice, when clearly it is this corrupted system some happily call capitalism. I don’t know about the rest of you, but I don’t believe anyone before their birth wishes to be born into poverty and a system that by default of their genetic makeup puts them at the bottom. Anyone care to make sense of any of this stuff?

It is quite funny to see people on the lower levels pushing for the advancement of capitalism. Much of these folks are descendants of slave masters whom for the most part introduced capitalism into the world by accident, yet they profited immensely and never shared the wealth. I find it greatly disturbing when there are actual persons out there who are poorer than a third world country, exhibiting paralyzing behavior in the name of capitalism, they have no money, they lack the good life themselves, and yet they’re ever so willing to be a front line soldier for people and a system that doesn’t even care whether they live or die—the Al Qaeda of Capitalism!

But then I had to sit and watch, and I asked oneself, aren’t we all capitalistic slaves. Are we all not affected by this system and those who are at the top running it rampant? Are we all not caught up in some form of debt or hardship caused by this monstrous system called capitalism? There seem to be nothing out there to help the uninformed with connecting back to their own self interest roots, I guess because the media; academia, and other various forms of helping/education tools have also come under the control of the Capitalist Gestapo to quote from the GOP nutcases.

Until people wake up and realize that their self interest does not lie with capitalism, the symptoms of this terrible, conniving, unrealistic, greedy, inhumane, unjust, egotistical system will never cease to exist. It is the notion of “The American Dream” that keeps such a system afloat, yet most will die before they even come remotely close to achieving such a fantasy. My question is why can’t they see this? Are they so down and out to the point where “faith” in anything that seems appealing acts as an ever craving anesthetic against realism? What is the problem my friends? Because until the majority of people wake up, we all shall forever remain nothing more than capitalistic slaves, to be used, trashed, exploited and thrown to death by the Capitalist Dictators who rules the world above government and all that which is to be considered fair equal and balanced—ironic eh?

CAPITALISM AND THE IRRELEVANCE OF GOD?!?!

The reason why I used the word “Irrelevance” in the title is because the question that I am asking here is simple. Can capitalism short circuit ones belief in God? I am not going to be heavily ideological about this, just very objective and observant if nothing else—can’t promise though LOL!

I ask this question because when I look around, I see a lot of negativity going on. In addition, most people of faith tend to associate negativity with the lack of faith in that of a God. On the contrary, I honestly don’t believe that because clearly there are many folk who go to church DAILY and yet still engage in negativity or just simply cannot seem to avoid it. For instance, a person can’t help living in a bad community and always getting caught up in crime, any much more than a man who doesn’t live in such a community and always seem to avoid crime. In full, people don’t necessarily ask to be in bad positions and/or experiences. I do not think anyone reading this actually wake up in the morning saying, “Ok I want to engage in negative activity!”

Ok, now here is the five million dollar question. We know capitalism is all about competition and profit. People will generally do whatever it takes to make a profit and over step someone else just to be the best. Capitalist will oftentimes do this with complete disregard to the impact their actions will have on others. Now let’s put ourselves in context of someone who may be living a hard life in a capitalistic society, with a lack of opportunity and social support, or the person may just be unstable. In addition, this person prays constantly, goes to church and try to put in lots of positive work as their faith commands, but yet their ends still do not meet. Now somewhere down the line they lose faith and denounce it. Is it fair to say that their very experiences along with rational thinking justify their disconnect with faith? Or is it fair to justify capitalism as a means of justifying faith, or God’s lack of acknowledgment on that person’s problem even though they followed God’s rules vigorously?

Some may even think that the Church benefits off capitalism as well. I am trying to understand how bottom or unstable people living in a capitalistic society can honestly say that they still have faith even though time and time again faith never seems to show itself as in being reliable. Now for some it may, again I am trying to be objective. However, I find that a growing number of ex-believers are saying that they’ve left faith alone due to their acknowledgment of their own life experiences, and that they wish they’d seen it earlier. I am asking what everyone thinks about this, because I honestly believe capitalism can either make or break a person. What says you?

This note is basically a response to a vid I had seen on youtube where Glenn Beck showed the stomping murder of the young teenager in Chicago. Glenn quickly began to associate this bad behavior with those children or persons within that vicinity perhaps having a lack of God. I personally find it heavily sad that every time people in poverty do something or behave in such a way that is to be completely expected given their environment they’re told that their faith in a non existent entity is the reason for their suffering. BULL FUCKING SHIT!!! African slaves, after they were stripped of their entire identity and culture here in America, prayed constantly for freedom. They prayed for a better life yet this so called GOD DID NOT FUCKING HELP THEM!! This so called god ALLOWED FOR THEIR SUFFERING. CHILDREN, WOMEN, MEN CASTRATED and HUNG! So much for their utterly disgusting faith in a GOD that wasn’t even developed by them! This God Blacks pray to today have NO HISTORICAL PRESENCE in who we are as a people and it is pathetically sad that most Blacks even continue to believe in the non-sense.

My anger, however, is more with Beck’s comment on social justice. If we know God isn’t going to come down any time soon and help us, because clearly he didn’t do it during Slavery and he damn sure isn’t doing it now, then what the fuck does Beck expect people to actually do? SIT HERE AND JUST PRAY! LMFAO!! Yea ok!!! Social Justice is needed IT TAKES HUMANS TO PROTECT AND HELP HUMANS! No GOD is going to do it! In fact if we research the Black condition from the time of their arrival up until now ANYONE can easily conclude that this GOD hates Blacks. Let Beck tell it and he’ll say Blacks are inherently fucked! Look at all of the unnecessary suffering, yet for some STUPID ASS REASON, people still continue to put their faith in something ludicrous instead of getting off their asses and physically making a damn change!

Beck knows good and well of the Black struggle, and he knows that Blacks for the most part are highly religious and that they do pray and go to church even though historically it has done nothing for our collective social health. Beck went on to say did capitalism fail us? My answer is simple, the conditions in which we find ourselves today is a direct symptom that has been developed by Capitalism. Without classes and social divides Capitalism cannot exist. The people at the top must be able to maintain their wealth and power in society, thus if everyone had a chance their empires will be threatened. This is precisely why everything necessary is done under STEALTH of course to hold most people at the bottom DOWN!! Sadly for Blacks we have been a permanent underclass since the so called emancipation.

How DARE Beck even attempt to insult the underdog in the name of GOD!! This is a testament to what the church was made for. To play the world’s ills against those who clearly have no power to manipulate the social factors and then blame it on their lack of faith in God, an entity made up by the elite in the first place to CONTROL the dummies at the bottom who actually believe a man in the sky is looking down to help them. SADLY there will be some who will agree with BECK! BUT AGAIN those people in Chicago DON’T NEED GOD… They need human intervention. Waiting on God will do nothing but allow for those poor children to kill each other further. Such violence is channeled through their failed economic and educational progress; also, the lack of initiatives that will actually help to facilitate some type of change within their community. America’s apathy towards her own kind will be the demise of her as we know it. Until we start allocating help to these inner cities and people at the bottom, the underdogs will continue to live in ruins, because you see Beck, people who are REAL knows that when you’re living in subhuman conditions where God has FAILED clearly, it is all about SURVIVAL, they don’t have Beck’s money or connections, this world thrives on self interest and money both of which underdogs lack immensely—by design!

GIVING UP ON INNER CITY JUVENILES

I remember the day myself and my colleague Christine Bell got into a huge debate and nearly a fight with two suburban police officers in a juvenile justice class. The two police officers actually believed to a large extent that if juveniles want to commit crime they’re going to do it regardless. Christine and I coming from an “Inner City” background actually begged to differ. We felt as though for the most part juveniles engage in criminal activity due to their environmental influences, whether it is the home or the community. This took place the day after we had visited Hudson County Youth Detention Facility. Sadly, the population was mostly young black males, with no spare of hope in their eyes. Many of them felt as though it was honorary to be there, while a smaller percentage was genuinely afraid and eager to start anew.

I can remember that day in class very clearly. As always Dr. Williams boosted up the debates by asking a simple question, “What did you guys think about the visit? Do you think the process we currently have is helpful?” Of course me being the ultra liberal I am, I had a million bullets to through at the system. HOWEVER, I toned it down and simply asked, “I wonder why they didn’t ask any of the social workers to remain, I would have loved to question them.” The class looked at me as though they were waiting for me to finish my commentary, therefore I continued, “ I mean—if recidivism rates are high amongst the juveniles then we need to know what progs are working and progs aren’t working.” Out of the two cops there was a woman, White and in her mid thirties I suppose. Immediately this woman attacked me and said, “They’re only in there for two weeks how do you suppose they fix these children. If their parents are screwed up then they too will grow up to be screwed, sometimes there just isn’t anything you can do.”

I paused out of disbelief but whether she admits this or not and SHE NEVER DID, she basically just supposed that we give up on juveniles, allow them to become repeat offenders and then graduate into the adult system and become permanent slaves to the industrialized prison complex. Now remember when I walked into that detention facility there were mostly black young males. I have also walked into adult prisons and it is the same exact way. My point here is simple; those who are making the policies regarding the criminal justice system have NO CLUE to the lifestyles and the environments of those whom they claim to be serving, and when they make their racist policy they have TOTAL DISREAGARD to that. Good social behavior to them is based off of their good living lifestyle and their interpretation of what dominant culture and social control should be. This is precisely why we have a disproportionate amount of YOUNG JUVENILE BLACK MALES in the system, because this screwed up system wishes NOT to rectify the problem as it should be.

The reason why I wanted to speak to a Social Worker in that place is because I wanted to know the progs that they’re instituting to help those young children. According to the lady cop they were only in there for two weeks so how could they help? My response to her was, if they weren’t trying to help them in any such form or fashion then social workers would not be present in the building. THEREORE there must be some type of platform upon which the social workers are implementing from even if for two weeks, and therefore if these children are returning, we must begin to investigate the effectiveness of the programs that are being used. This is simple research shit. But even still she just couldn’t seem to understand my viewpoint.

Then my colleague Christine jumped in after listening to this lady’s nonsense and stated that perhaps we should have a gateway program. Whereby the children and their parents can go to classes and counseling to better their life styles and become more productive in our “civilized” society. Which I agree with, because if the children are returning and nothing seems to be getting done then we must implement new progs and possible policies that are going to do the job. Then Dr Williams boosted the debate up some more by saying, “Do you guys think Judges and Prosecutors in juvenile cases have too much power?” Immediately Christine and I agreed by saying YES THEY DO!!

Well guess what?! The Lady Cop came out of pocket again, this time with a partner the other White Male, cop who believed that the judges and prosecutors were doing just fine. The Lady cop said ok how can we fix this then if the judges have too much power are you supposing kid juries? I said of course I am not supposing kid juries!! Here was my response: To have an independent board of criminal justice professionals that are already employed by the state, whether they’re a parole/police/probation/correction officer, a court clerk, public defender, or prosecutor to serve as a jury. You will not have to worry about budgetary matters because the time serving on the independent board would be the equivalent to going to work. A new contract would be generated expressing this new obligation and there would be no changes to wages or anything. The job of this board would be to hear the facts of each case thus giving juveniles some form of due process. Remember there have been many cases of judges being tried for corruption in juvenile courts by wrongfully sentencing juveniles to facilities that in return give them a payoff. With respect to prosecutors, sadly, even in the juvenile sector there is a culture of lock em up lock em up! Being that the due process clause doesn’t apply to juveniles it makes it easier for them to be mistreated the most.

The lady cop went berserk, “Oh it doesn’t matter because if those board members are working for the state they’re going to serve the interest of the state!” My response, “If that were the case we could say the same thing about judges, aren’t judges supposed to be independent, what is the difference with this independent jury board?” SHE HAD NOTHING TO SAY!! The point being made here is simple folks, There are a lot of people out there in America that simply do not care about inner city youth, and they see them as students of adult career criminals, which is quite sad.. What made me write this article was the acts that had just taken place up in Chicago with the boy being beaten to death in the street. This phenomenon of violence is pathetic. But the overall narrative is what are we doing as a “civilized” society to combat this issue. Why haven’t we generated programs that are going to actually work? Where are the social workers, why aren’t they speaking up about what works and what doesn’t? Like I told the lady cop we have already established the fact that the parents have no control so what is the solution! The cop didn’t have any, but do we accept that as a legitimate reason to not continue the search?

If the majority of juveniles in detention facilities are black inner city youth, and we have actual people IN THE SYSTEM who believe they’re inherently criminal and nothing more than problem children, then in my opinion that brings forth a GREAT THREAT to Inner City Youth, which has already started to show itself via statistics. I don’t know about you readers, but it seems that the same disparate treatment that Black adults face within the Criminal Justice System is now spreading over to Black Youth in the juvenile system. How moral of America right? As a so called “civilized” nation, what are we to do about this?

Ok people this will be a very touchy topic for most. I would like to just let it be known now that I am indeed an Atheist, but I will explain this topic with the utmost logical break down and I will not exhibit any bias, just rational questions as they pertain to the title. Shouts out to Debra Paron & A. London Arrington from off facebook for having inspired me to write this one particulate post, their commentary on my last note was nothing short of excellent.

Now when it comes to religion and morality most people tend to believe that morality did not exist until the orchestration of religion, which is heavily untrue. There is something I call the “Universal General Consensus” that I believe humans have by default. We all know it isn’t right to kill each other, we all know it is not right to Lie, everything written on the 10 commandments is something people generally know because our brains are wired to understand information and emotions. However when it comes to religious doctrines, there seem to be a huge case of indoctrination; a suppressing of freedom of thought, and a knock down to human rights and equality to all. For instance, at one time it was the church that actually validated slavery here in the Americas. It was the religion that set out on jihads, crusades and inquisitions. It was also the church that slaughtered people in Salem MA because they thought innocent people were involved with the occult. The church all seem to believe unanimously that people shouldn’t be calling onto the spirit YET, each religious institution have what they call prophets who calls onto the spirit—a direct contradiction!! You cannot disable that function for everyone else but yet allow it for certain persons who are so called “prophets”.

Religion for the most part just like politics plays on the short comings of the individual, the more down and out the person is the better they’re able to be controlled by religions institutions. This is why most people who go to jail come out religious whether they’re Christian or Muslim. I myself had done loads of studies in N.J prisons and I have seen first handedly how people in the prison system take to certain forms of religion, failing to realize that it is only they who have control of their own destiny. Religion gives some who are unwilling to see harsh realities a shoulder to lean on, and yes there may be nothing wrong with that. HOWEVER, when religion start seeking to control laws and social functions within a society that is when a threat begins to pose itself. I could care less about others who wish to have a BLIND FAITH, but do not impose your thought pattern and values upon me—a non believer. If you choose to believe something that has never shown itself to actually exist then keep that to yourself.

Let’s skip to the logical questions pertaining to religion: What loving god would give free will to his creation if they can use it to commit harmful acts against other innocent god abiding people? Morally speaking that isn’t right. For example, If Janice is living a god abiding live, she goes to church three times a week, she does her best to live by the rules of the bible, why should she be found dead one day because Bob decided to use his “free will” to murder someone due to setbacks in his life? See this notion of “free will” means nothing if people aren’t protected from unjust treatment of “free will”. If God’s rule mattered there would be no Justice System because God would handle them. See back in the day, they actually believed in the spiritualistic format of criminal justice, and the people believed back then that individuals simply will not commit crime out of fear of God’s wrath, BUT they were finding that people still committed crime at very high rates to the point where there were 40 executions a day—but executions in the name of GOD! Where is the morality in that? Luckily for humanity Beccaria came along and tried to make a change, a change that was way before his time, and he brought morality to punishment. This is precisely where many of our bill of rights provisions are stemmed from, particularly protection from cruel and unusual punishment. The bible in particular gives the go ahead for some of the heinous and saddest of ways to execute, yet some believe it is the primary source of morality—I beg to differ! People were executed back in the good ol days for any little thing and it was all based of spiritualistic notions of crime control. If God according to Muslims and Christians were omnipresent and all fixing, we would not have poverty, crime and many of the atrocities that we see present today. Because again free will means nothing if the innocent isn’t protected from injustice by the evil doers. Religion will have one believing that we’d all have to wait until the person die in order for justice to be done. BULLSHIT!! Because of religion most people are restricted of their liberty and right to exist as they are. For example, there are States out there that restrict Atheists from running for public office, how JUST and MORAL is that? It is also unconstitutional but when you have a state full of Jesus freaks that is the ending result.

Now let us jump to religion and politics. Currently, there is a huge debate going on about Gay Marriage. If we trip back to the ancient times, you will see that homosexuality existed and so did marriage. They did not call it marriage back then, but the same implications existed and this is way before modern religion came into existence. Yet today Christianity claims to be the maker of marriage, says who? Just Christians and they have no proof! But this should be no surprise to society, Christianity has done some of the harshest things to humanity throughout its short existence and it promotes out right discrimination upon people who it chooses to condemn for whatever reason. Now here comes a logical question, if homosexuality is against God, and he made everyone and knows everyone before he makes them, then why the hell does homosexuality even exist? You cannot say free will because then God can be viewed as a person who sets people up to only send them to hell, or he can be considered a selective God who has favorites and therefore he doesn’t love everyone. Why would God outright punish some and not others? That doesn’t sound logical to me AT ALL!! All religious institutions have bias against women as well. Women are suppressed in every form of way, Islam being the worst offender; it wasn’t until recent until women were actually able to be pastors. Some religious folk even protest against Abortion, but I would beg to ask why then does God allow some kids to be born dead? Logically it is the same thing isn't it? Whether the child is medically removed and then "killed" or naturally born dead, the ending result is that the child is now dead! Now what says you religious folk on that? Oh well some will say well it wasn't the child's time to be born, then why would God allow that female to be pregnant then, why couldn't God save all of that time and trouble?Politics and religion should not mix. Religion is something people should choose to be apart of, not forced. Gay marriage has nothing to do with religion, in fact most homosexuals wouldn’t even prefer to have the church involved, they just simply want the legal benefits that come along with it.

The lesson in this note is simple. Morality should be simple, but sadly in this day and age it isn’t because of other sophisticated mechanisms that were designed to control the human population. Those who sit at the top of this mechanism can ultimately control the fate of partitions of people and even whole countries, just as it was historically designed to do in the first place. So the fight today is against institutions that try to limit free thought. People should be able to ask questions regarding God or Religion and not be told to go to hell. People should not change who they are to fit in with religion, just to be accepted by the masses. Atheists should be able to run for office in the Bible belt without being discriminated against. Women should be able to have the same benefits as men without being told to keep shut in church. Disparities should not have to exist in today’s age when there is so much to pass around that everyone should live comfortable lives. I am very passionate about this topic because I understand clearly how religion actively tries to take humanistic traits that we all have and say it invented these traits on its own and thus taught us how to behave in context of morality, when that is a huge lie!! Now I do not knock anyone’s belief system but when people try to impose their belief system onto others I think we need not sit back quiet and allow it to happen. Morality comes from the human brain not a book called the Bible, Torah, or Qur'an. Morality is based in a “Universal General Consensus” these feelings and emotions were long connected to us way before notions of religion came about. Let us also not forget that other forms of religion existed before the modern day religions came about. In fact there are over dozens upon dozens of religions that we now call myths today that Christianity and Islam has stolen info from and is now calling it their own. In short, religions and mythology go through evolutions that are somewhat designed to keep up with the time. But in context of the writings as well as FACUALLY they’re all nothing more than made up stories by another human making a buck and trying to control! People FREE THOUGHT is the target of these religions and they will stop at nothing to denounce it.

The only way for humanity to fix itself, is for us all to realize that we’re all connected, and that only we can save ourselves. What says you on this matter and don’t be afraid to comment?!

This is definitely some food for thought folks. People tend to feel almost all the time that the information they know is indeed the right information. As I sat today pondering the accuracy of some of the news that is proliferating throughout the news networks, I came to see that much of that information is nothing more than controlled information. However, I also looked at academic submitions or accounts on different topics as well and thus concluded that even those can be potentially controlled information. I guess the overall question is, are there such ways upon which we can prove whether or not information is indeed accurate or just plain outright controlled. Sadly, I think that it is impossible to a large extent, BUT I suppose we can try. But then again can’t logical thinking combat controlled information?

Everyone wants their input or side of the story to be right. For instance, democratic views v. republican views v. independent views. How in the world do you scan those points for validity? Is there even such a way to do it? Like I tell many on my blog: The best thing to do is to simply research, verify the sources of that information and come up with your own INDEPENDENT thought, because to a large extent everyone’s input is valid at the end of the day. Because clearly in this world anything is possible, the phenomena just never seem to end. People just simply need not to believe all they’re told, because you never know when information is controlled or not. Too bad those poor protestors cannot see this FACT when it comes to health care. Lack of education and understanding is a terrible status to have. Sheesh!! Are you thinking on your own?

The other day I had watched a youtube video with former Congressman Traficant, speaking about the government becoming more powerful than we the people, which as a result have now instilled fear into the people against government. When we look at the tea parties that are taking place today is there any thought that comes to mind as to the totality of why they’re there? YES we know some are possibly there out of hatred and disdain towards anything Obama does, HOWEVER, if we look at the condition of our government as it stands today, shouldn’t we all be out there tea partying’ against our government and all political parties?

Something seems fundamentally wrong about our government when innocent poor people can be shot down by the cops and yet their families receive neither closure nor justice. Police get away with these things due to their so called procedural guidelines, which in most cases gives them the right to kill on site. Why are these hypocritical monsters protected by the same force that is said to be under the same command of those whom they serve? The founder of policing Sir Robert Peel believed strongly in being able to weed out the bad apples and replace them with honorary persons. Yet today we’re far away from that founding principle of police administration. Today there is a strenuous process on proving an officer unfit to practice.

I just think we as a society need to think firm and wide about the status of we the people v. the government. The founders, although they too were bigots, never believed in seeing government having the power to push the people into fear. People should not have to walk around in fear of the police. Police who have a general bias or hate towards any ethnicity in the population should not be hired, or expunged if they’re employed. Police should be fit and not overweight. Congress should be held heavily accountable to the populace and not to the corporations. The president should not be following shadow govt plans but rather his/her own genuine plans. People should be able to be treated fairly by the judicial system. There should not be a literal racist criminal justice system that practices selective charging on a daily basis. People should be presumed innocent until proven guilty not guilty until proven innocent.

Furthermore, a culture of just convicting should not exist in our prosecutors offices’, for that is our greatest threat against liberty and that which our constitution guarantees. This culture exists primarily to set up the future careers of those who are cut throat enough to take advantage of it. Very few prosecutors have a conscious—greed takes over, yet they’re supposed to be defenders of our rights. I think not! Defense attorneys these days are the actual persons preserving the rights of others. Where is justice in the State being able to have scientific evidence presented but not the indigent defendant who has a Public Defender without the funds to test the validity of that scientific evidence? The Public Defender in itself is even a relatively new concept developed by the Supreme Court. Despite the due process clause and the equal protection clause, there was a time when we the people were left to our own ruins when it came to justice and if you could not afford a defense then that was your ass, BUT is there any real difference in that today? Plea bargains are another method, which the govt uses to convict people under false pretenses. Oftentimes the govt doesn’t even have enough evidence to convict if there were a trial; I guess there is no surprise that 95% of all convictions are through copping pleas. The psychological trauma plea bargains place on people is sadly inhumane, and the fact that prosecutors oftentimes play games and even lie is even more gut bubbling. So before I continue to rant, I guess my ending line is: Why the hell are we so afraid of our government people?!

WHY DOES AMERICA FEAR AHMADINEJAD??

As an American it is quite liberal/radical of me to actually say I support the speech that Ahmadinejad had given on 9/23/09 on the General Assembly at the U.N. HOWEVER, when I look at the exactness of his words, nothing seems to be FALSE. He spoke against injustice, imperialism, and democratic bigotry that has been long exhibited by the U.S and other Nation States that are within its alliance. He spoke about the frivolous U.N mission statement that clearly hasn’t accomplished anything, especially due to the secret alliances that are in effect as a result of imperialism and corporate greed.

He also spoke about the culture of violations upon various International Conventions, which seems to be non-existent in the eyes of most countries with the ability to bully and bring forth policy through the use of extreme brute force to avoid culpability. In an irregular manner, Ahmandinejad basically laid out the blueprint upon which our next possible world war will be based. In a tone of desperation he warned us about the wrongdoings that are going on, and then followed up with the inevitable response to those wrongdoings, as he pressed a reality that we’re now in a season where people and Nations will stand up against imperialism and bully-hood.

Capitalism is the base upon which the evil that currently exist is birthed from, according to Ahmadinejad. It has given Nations and Corporate Crooks legal authority not only within their own soil but abroad to usurp resources and call it their own. He expresses his notion that Marxism is clearly gone, primarily due to the trauma that has been caused by capitalism. In a brief manner he spoke on Israel’s handling of Palestine, which he was critiqued for being an “anti Semitic” by various “pundits” HOWEVER, how can this man be anti-Semitic, when there are currently dozens of blockades that disallows basic necessity aid to float through to the estranged Palestinians, whom Cynthia McKinney support and was jailed for by the Israelis.

There seems to be an extreme take over of U.S Media by those who have the MOST to gain out of this so called war in the Middle East. Immediately after his speech the man was labeled just as Rev Wright was WITHOUT anyone ever questioning the validity of his overall message. The essence of that which he has stated was that world peace is needed. Greed must be ended and humanity must be brought back to standards equivalent to universal morality

Now most are quick to say Ahmadinejad stole the elections over in Iran, BUT if your Nation has a history of the same thing who are you to judge? I agree with Amadinejad it is time for all Nations to practice what they preach. Stop lying and predicating nation building off of the guise of extending democracy. Stop assassinating real foreign leaders to only replace them with puppet govts that will of course serve the needs of a foreign corrupted regime. Stop the spreading and using of the term capitalism to legalize the economic trauamtization that has been placed upon so many victims here in the U.S and other nations. I challenge all around the world to start thinking extremely critically about the actions their govts’ partake in and to investigate those actions vigorously, for that is the only way to bring some form of justice to the world as Ahmadinejad sworn to support in his speech. People must stop allowing the American Media and Political Rhetoric to control their thoughts on foreign affairs, instead do your own research and build up your own technique of verification. Justice is the only forum we have to hold people accountable to humanity and if we allow it to fall short of us, then when the darkness falls, it will be righteously deserved.

The American society is one based off of artificial flavor. For some reason it cannot seem to have a grip on reality v. fantasy. Political Correctness for the most part seems to be the huge cause for the stupidity that has now become customary in our society. People who are filled with nothing but bigotry and hate seem more credible than those who are on the extreme opposite. Intellectualized justifications FOR oppression actually still have a voice in this society although on a constant basis everyone gives praise to MLK. Something is highly hypocritical about this society.

Certain people believe their experiences are much more valid than others who may be deconstructed from the mainstream experience. It is as though those who cannot share in the goodness and prosperity of America are thereby forced to put up with their second classed citizenship and told to, “Like the little bit you have”. Radicalism is the new terrorism, even though extremist conservatism can ultimately invade our society’s morality and render us non-existent. The larger question is how do we solve such a debacle? Do we sit back and allow the non-sense to continue, or do we stand up and speak out in truth of the hypocrisy of those who do not welcome change?

Do we take to the streets? Do we demand equal education and working wages? Do we demand justice for all, not only domestically but also abroad? Do we finally incorporate plans or agendas to finally award those beneath the top 5% for all of their hard work, sweat, and tears? When will those at the lower level in society finally realize that the power resides in the individual? When will the uneducated southerners who march in the name of capitalism realize that they’re against their own interest? Or is it their hate that restricts them from seeing the truth?

Has America really changed since the old days? Did the Civil Rights Acts actually make a difference? Some will say, “Hey everyone has equal access” but I OBJECT!! WHY!? Because Equal Access without Equal Results equals NOTHING!! In terms of healthcare, why do we have a President who CLAIMS to want to pass healthcare but YET isn’t using reconciliation to push it through? He claims to want the help of the opposition, yet on a daily basis they show contempt for he and every plan he has tried to date. Does this society deserve to sit at bay, while the two party system play ping pongs back and forth with their shit load of special interest? One word: CORRUPTION!!!

I don’t know people, something is clearly wrong with this society. This is a society unwilling to use critical thinking, incapable of rational thought, not friendly with moral policy, and it hates its past even though without it you cannot fix issues of today. YET we’re the beacon of hope upon which all nations look up to for leadership. America has more issues than most third world nations yet they dare to look up to the beast for direction.

Shall we touch on RELIGION?? For America to be a god fearing nation it commits more sins than the “lord” allows. One word: PHONY! Not that I believe in the phrase “WWJD” but why aren’t Christians following it? Ok they’ll say God gave us “free will” but then my rational mind will ask, “What is the use of free will if a person can do harm with it? Why must innocent people be affected by another’s wrongdoing?” Usually there is no answer to my highly rationalized question. However, still something is completely utterly dementedly wrong. Oh and America wasn’t founded on Christian values either. In fact America was founded on RELIGIOUS FREEDOM… Morality has been around LONG before the Bible came about. Christianity doesn’t have a patent on what morality is. Wow just look at its past. SORRY TO TELL YA!! But again, folks what the hell is wrong with this society? Because when I look at it, it appears to be ass backwards!! Therefore the only thing I can say is the title, “There is something fundamentally wrong about this society!”

Joe Wilson Voted to Provide Taxpayer Money for Illegal Immigrants' Healthcare

On Wednesday night, Rep. Joe Wilson [R, SC-2], shouted “You lie!” at President Obama when he said that the healthcare bill would not cover illegal immigrants. “The supporters of the government takeover of healthcare and liberals who want to give healthcare to illegals are using my opposition as an excuse to distract from the critical questions being raised about this poorly conceived plan,” Wilson said the next day in a campaign fundraising video.

However, in 2003, Wilson voted to provide federal funds for illegal immigrants’ healthcare. The vote came on the Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement and Modernization Act of 2003, which contained Sec. 1011 authorizing $250,000 annually between 2003 and 2008 for government reimbursements to hospitals who provide treatment for uninsured illegal immigrants. The program has been extended through 2009 and there is currently a bipartisan bill in Congress to make it permanent.

Hospitals have a legal obligation to treat everyone who comes in seeking care, regardless of citizenship status, insurance or other characteristics. This means that hospitals treat millions of people every year who don’t have the means to pay. Obviously, this drives up the nation’s healthcare costs overall. Section 1011 helps cushion the costs for hospitals, but it’s not nearly enough to cover the actual costs in most areas.

To be fair, Section 1011 is just a small part of a much larger bill that contained many Republican priorities. Still, Wilson’s protest against the current healthcare reform proposal giving coverage to illegal immigrants (which is false), is in direct contradiction to his 2003 vote. Allowing illegal immigrants to purchase unsubsidized healthcare through the Exchange that would be set up under the current proposal wouldn’t cost taxpayers a cent, and it would be a step towards fixing the problem that Section 1011 was designed to throw federal money at.

Van Jones, Barack Obama and the Audacity of Capitulation

Van Jones, special advisor to the President’s Council on Environmental Quality, has resigned from the administration. To be honest, he was forced out. Oh, perhaps not directly, but if not, then by the stunning silence of his employer. An employer more concerned about appeasing the right-wing bullies who sought to make Jones a liability for him, than about standing up for a brilliant thinker on both economics and ecological issues, and confronting the conservative talk-show hosts who have libeled and slandered Jones (literally) over the past month.

The right has shown no shame in their relentless pursuit of Jones’s political scalp. They havefabricated from whole cloth details of his life, calling him a convicted felon and instigator of the 1992 Los Angeles riots. This, in spite of the fact that he has no criminal record whatsoever and wasn’t even in Los Angeles when those riots were happening. His arrest at that time was part of a sweep of dozens of peaceful marchers in San Francisco, involved in a protest at the time of the riots. He was released, charges were dropped, and he was paid damages by the city. This is not what happens to criminals, but rather, innocent people who have done nothing wrong. Jones should sue the living shit out of Beck, his employers at Fox News, and every other prominent liar who has repeated the baseless allegations of his criminal record in recent weeks. He should wipe them out, take their money, leave them penniless and begging on the streets, without health care. They would deserve it. Perhaps Beck's AA sponsor or the Mormons who he credits with "saving" his wretched soul can then take care of he and his family. Since surely he wouldn't want the government to lend a hand.

They have twisted other aspects of Jones's past, suggesting his brief stint with a pseudo-Maoist group makes him a secret communist in the heart of government, this despite his more recent break with such groups and philosophies, in favor of a commitment to eco-friendly, sustainable capitalism. They have called him a black nationalist, which he admits to having been for a virtual political minute in his youth, and have suggested he’s a “truther” (one who believes George W. Bush masterminded the 9/11 attacks as an “inside job”). As for this last charge, their evidence consists of Jones’s signature on a petition, which originally called merely for more openness about the pre-9/11 intelligence available to the former administration, but which was later altered to reflect the conspiratorial lunacy of its creators. Jones, and many others who reject the truthers' nonsense, were tricked into signing and were appalled by the final product. But none of this matters to the right. Because after all, none of it was ever the point.

This is not about convicted felons. The right loves convicted felons, as long as their names are Oliver North and G. Gordon Liddy. The former of these (whose convictions were eventually vacated on a technicality) helped direct an illegal war from the Reagan White House, which claimed the lives of tens of thousands of innocent Nicaraguans. And the latter helped plan the Watergate break-in, advocated political assassination during his time in the Nixon White House, and even advised folks on how to kill federal agents several years ago, from his radio show perch (“head shots” he roared). But none of his friends on the right ever suggested that such talk put him beyond the pale, or should result in him being silenced.

This is not about having an arrest record. After all, there are many anti-abortion zealots with arrest records, hauled in and then ultimately released after blocking access to family planning clinics. But Glenn Beck doesn’t make them public enemy number one. Nor would he, or any of his political soulmates, seek to prevent such persons from having roles in a future Presidential administration. Indeed, they would likely consider such a record a bonafide qualification for higher office.

This is not about believing in conspiracy theories. Surely not. Beck of all people can hardly condemn anyone for that--even if Jones did subscribe to such things, which he doesn’t--for it is he who believes, among other things that Obama is planning on a mandatory civilian defense corps, which will be like Hitler’s SS, that Obama “hates white people” and has a “deep seated hatred for white culture,” that Obama is pushing health care merely as a way to get reparations for black people, and that he secretly wants to bankrupt the economy to force everyone to work for ACORN. It is Beck who is among the leading voices suggesting that the President’s upcoming speech to schoolchildren--in which he will implore them to study hard--is really just an attempt to indoctrinate them into a new version of the Hitler Youth. No, these people love to push nonsensical conspiracy theories. It is their bread and butter. It is all they have, in fact.

Nor is this about Jones’s remarks in a speech, given prior to becoming part of the administration, to the effect that the reason Republicans get things done is that they’re willing to be “assholes,” while many Democrats, including Obama, aren’t. Conservatives don’t mind that kind of talk. They loved it when Dick Cheney said go "fuck yourself" to Senator Patrick Leahy in 2004. Not to mention, right-wingers say far more offensive things than that, on a regular basis, but remain in good standing, and are surely never condemned by their fellow reactionaries. What’s worse: Jones calling Republicans assholes, or Rush Limbaugh saying that most liberals should be killed, but that we should “leave enough so we can have two on every campus--living fossils--so we will never forget what these people stood for?”**

What’s worse, Jones’s asshole remark, or Anne Coulter saying, among the many venomous syllable strings that have toppled from her lips, that the only thing Tim McVeigh did wrong was choosing to blow up the Federal Building in Oklahoma City, rather than the New York Times building?

This is not about socialism, as Jones is not a socialist. Oh sure, he's associated with some, and might still be friends with several to this day. And so what? Martin Luther King Jr. associated with socialists and communists because they supported the civil rights struggle and the black freedom movement at a time when the rabid anti-communists were at the forefront of attempts to maintain formal white supremacy. Which is to say that the socialists and the communists were on the right side, and the red-baiters were on the wrong one. Which was also true about the fight for the 40-hour work week, the 8-hour day, the end of child labor, the right of women to vote, and every other advance for freedom and justice in this nation in the past 100 years. But of course, Glenn Beck explained on the radio this past July 4th that he “hates the last 100 years of American history,” so I guess we know what side he would have been on in all those battles.

Let’s be clear, this is about one thing only: namely, the attempt by the right to exploit white reactionary fears about black militancy. It is the same tactic they tried with Rev. Jeremiah Wright in 2008. They did not confront Wright’s narrative--the accuracy of which was far stronger than they would like to admit--nor do they actually grapple with Jones’s ideas (it is doubtful that Beck has even read Jones’s best-selling book, for instance). Rather, they present a caricature, a bogey man with black skin, an occasional scowl, and an attitude. Angry, confrontational, "uppity," and too close to the President. Which means that Wright=Obama=Jones=Malcolm X. It’s a trope the right has banked on for years: using racial memes and symbols to scare Jim and Susie Suburb. Put the face of black anger out there and watch your devotees respond like Pavlov’s dog.

It’s something I first saw up close and personal in 1992. The woman I was dating at the time was an interior designer and had scored a contract to decorate the VIP lounges at the Houston Astrodome for the GOP National Convention. I viewed it as a great opportunity to do some enemy reconnaissance, so I lurked around the literature tables and took in the imagery beamed from the jumbotrons to the assembled conventioneers. One afternoon, we arrived before the main hall was opened to the delegates, and as I looked up at the screens above the floor, I saw the image that would be there to greet them as they entered a half-hour later: a massive, pixillated image of hip-hop artist Ice-T, whose speed metal band Bodycount had recently gotten in trouble for their song, “Cop Killer.” The Republicans wanted their delegates to know who the enemy was. Not just Ice-T, but anyone who listened to his music, anyone who looked like him.

And that is what the attack on Van Jones is about: exploiting white fears and anxieties. Anxieties about a black President, anxieties about a basket-case economy (which they’re trying to blame on the black President even though it was well in the crapper before he came along), anxieties about a changing demographic balance in the nation (which animates their fear and anger over immigration), anxieties about a popular culture whose icons look less and less like them as the years go by. And so they play up the militant black guy image, turning a low-level bureaucrat into a “Green Jobs Czar,” (the latter of which term they have sought to spin into a communist thing, despite the fact that the Russian Czars were actually the royalist pigs who were thrown out by the Russian left, a small historical detail which doesn’t matter to illiterate people of course), and making him the bad guy who’s running the Obama administration from behind the scenes.

No, it’s not only about race. But if you think it’s merely a coincidence that the right has sought to make Jones such an issue--rather than some of the other administration officials they are now threatening to “expose” (two of whom are white)--then you haven’t been paying attention to Republican and conservative politics for the past forty years. This is what they do. It’s the only language they speak, at least fluently. Which is why when John McCain--to his credit--tried to move away from this method a bit, and refused to push the Jeremiah Wright theme during the general election campaign, so many on the hard-right criticized him. They didn’t want him to talk about Bill Ayers: they wanted him to talk about Wright. Even though Ayers was the one with the criminal record and the links to political violence, while Wright was the military veteran and preacher with a storied history of community contributions. Why? Because they knew that Wright would be the better image. To link Obama to a white radical is one thing. But to link him to a black one? Oh, much, much better.

This is, it appears, the emerging political agenda of the Republican Party, and certainly its right-wing: a group that has decided, apparently, to go all in as a party of angry white people (and the few folks of color willing to look past their incessant race-baiting). They have circled the wagons, all but given up on reaching out to black and brown voters, and are putting all of their chips on white.

And everything they are saying about Van Jones was what people like them said about civil rights leaders in the 50s and 60s: about Dr. King and Ralph Abernathy, and John Lewis, and Fannie Lou Hamer. They were communists, and revolutionaries, and a danger to the republic. Make no mistake, had they been old enough in those days, Beck and every modern-day movement conservative would have stood with the segregationists, with the bigots, with the mobs who burned the buses carrying freedom riders. They would have stood with the police in Philadelphia, Mississippi, even as they orchestrated the killing of Andrew Goodman, James Chaney and Mickey Schwerner. They would have stood with Bull Connor in Birmingham. How do we know? Easy. Because not one prominent conservative spokesperson of that time did the opposite. Not one. That's who they are. And the minute you forget that, the minute you insist on treating them better than they would treat you, the minute you insist on playing by rules that they refuse to as much as acknowledge, all is lost. They do not believe in democracy. They believe in power. White power. They believe in the past. They are Afrikaaners, and it's about time we started calling them that.
